"We have an exciting opportunity for the right individuals to join the Claims Change and Product team as we recruit a Projects and Programmes Operations Manager.
The Programme and Projects Operations Manager will have an exceptionally strong project management skillset to operationally manage the department to deliver a portfolio of projects and programmes to scope, schedule and budget ensuring performance to estimate is both managed and maintained. The role will take ownership of the delivery of critical projects and programmes of work in Motor Claims. The role will help shape future strategy and support the new and evolving Motor Claims Change and Product department.
You will need to be driven by success and highly proactive in anticipating issues, solving problems and planning for change. They will also need to be very well organised and capable of communicating to stakeholders at all levels. The ability to motivate a team of wide-ranging skills and personalities is crucial. The individual should be straight talking, not afraid to deliver news and willing and able to make the right decisions. We are looking for someone who can clearly demonstrate their commitment to delivery and is capable of managing multiple plans and produce comprehensive and clearly articulated documentation to support decision making.
You will be required to line manage, develop, and support Leads and Project Managers within the team. You will also be responsible for the Leadership and overall management and development of the department, alongside the PMO and Projects Operations Manager. You will demonstrate the desire to constantly improve, motivate and encourage others, supporting colleagues and drive an innovative and supportive culture.
The role is expected to support the Head of Projects and PMO in the layout and foundation of the department’s strategic direction alongside the Head of Product and ensure a clear understanding and visibility aligned to the overall Claims and Group Strategy annually. The role is expected to deputise for Head of Projects and PMO during any period of absence or unavailability.
Responsibilities
- Work with the project delivery teams, agile squads and business stakeholders to ensure clear scope and a quality and timely set of deliverables.
- Proactive ownership of all programme deliverables, maintaining a focus on quality at all times.
- Management of stakeholder relationships and communication across the business for areas impacted by programmes and projects.
- Take ownership for building and maintaining programme and project plans.
- Managing the interdependencies across the programme alongside external dependencies.
- Clear and concise programme and project reporting.
- Reporting to Steering Committees, Programme and Portfolio checkpoints, where required both verbally and in writing.
- Responsible for the Motor Programmes and Projects department (Resources, delivery, compliance to governance, development, engagement etc)
- Responsible for the Motor Claims Programmes and Project demand and capacity management within the team.
- Responsible for obtaining information from PFO and through Annual Planning on all programme activity happening across EUI where Claims is impacted or may have involvement to ensure early engagement.
- Ability to own and drive forward a workstream on a central programme and collaborate with Project and Programme Managers across the business to deliver objectives.
- Line management of various roles subject to structure. Ensuring training, development and regular feedback provided.
- Project escalation route for PMs ensuring the correct escalation channels have been followed initially.
- Responsible for escalating issues, blockers, or concerns to programme and project steering meetings or Senior team members on behalf of Claims.
- Responsible in ensuring the correct governance and frameworks are in place and adhered to across Motor Claims Programmes and Projects.
- Member of Motor Claims Ops group with attendance and contribution required.
- Own the portfolio view of change, risk, dependencies, decisions, and all required governance.
- Ensure all change is managed within the correct change cycle, frameworks, and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with the Business Change Operations Manager, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities defined for roles in each department and having a clear feed of Programme and Project delivery and entering closure to ensure the relevant workstreams such as comms, engagement, testing, readiness etc are considered.
- Responsibility for the successful delivery of the Motor Claims Portfolio of programmes and projects.
- Reviewing programme and project documentation and programme and project plans, focussing on Scope, Budget, Delivery and Governance.
- Responsible in ensuring all PMs/CEs are following the agreed governance structure and framework.
- Working in partnership with relevant Leads and IT roles to manage project / change risks/dependencies/IT priorities.
- Developing and delivering progress reports, proposals, and presentations where applicable.
- Responsible in ensure Quality assurance of programmes and projects.
- Act as a reference point for Motor Change delivery queries and information and be an advocate for project best practice.
- Responsible in ensuring a happy and motivated department is in place conducting regular feedback cycles, tea parties and other communication methods with the department.
Knowledge and Experience
- Proven leadership skills to drive change and deliver business outcomes.
- Excellent Stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Experience of working on a Programme at leadership level.
- Experience of planning, budgeting, financial management and governance.
Desirable:
- Understanding of Claims (Motor)
- Understanding of Insurance and Financial Services.
- Understanding of the regulatory landscape (FCA, PRA etc.)
- Understanding of current and horizon technology.
- Preferred Professional Training/Certification
- Programme Management qualification (e.g. MSP)
- Project Management qualifications (e.g., Prince2, APM or Agile PM).

Salary, Benefits, and Work-Life Balance
