This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled agile team in which you will be part of a project to transform the way customers interact with Admiral.

Conversational AI technology is now the backbone of Admiral’s new customer engagement team. Over the next few years, we will continue to bolster our natural language capability and move more towards conversational design to service our customers. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled agile team in which you will develop a new project to transform the way customers interact with Admiral.

We are a new team building a brand new cloud-native product with NLU (Natural Language Understanding) technologies and customer centre integrations. We’re using tools such as Google Cloud Platform, Dialogflow, Azure DevOps, Terraform and Git.

How we work

You will be part of the Customer Engagement Tribe, working with small teams that are inclusive, open and collaborative. We encourage team members to share ideas, solutions and decision-making to drive forward the effectiveness of the teams and products that we deliver.

We can offer hybrid or fully remote working and we will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious person who can creatively solve problems and collaborate well with others. You must have a keen interest in testing and quality assurance, applying shift-left, test-first principles. As you will be working in the relatively new area of Conversational AI, you will also be expected to look for new ways to test and evaluate new tools.

As part of an agile team, we are looking for someone to work independently and as part of a squad within a fast-paced and changing environment. You will work with the rest of the team to improve our processes.

Responsibilities

  • Within the multi-discipline squad, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the services and applications we are developing. This will include:
  • Ability to refine user stories and define the test approach for them.
  • Ability to record, report, investigate and manage defects found during testing.
  • Participation in sprint ceremonies and championing a shift-left approach to testing for earlier feedback in the development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with product managers and developers to gain expertise in what the product does and how it works.
  • Supporting the integration of automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Working with the developers to build and maintain automated frameworks and tests.
  • Contribution to test strategies, supporting others to continually improve the test process and raise standards within the squad.
  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in voice and conversational AI test approaches.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in working in an agile environment.
  • Experience in working collaboratively to improve overall tests and other processes.
  • Automated API/component integration testing with experience using Postman or similar tooling.
  • Experience in integrating automated testing into a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience with non-functional testing.
  • Experience of working in cloud-based git repositories.
  • The ability to learn new skills, tools and new problem domains.
  • The ability to think about test coverage holistically and guide the team to improve it.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Good knowledge of web technologies, especially server-side ones.
  • Experience in building test automation code.
  • Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS).
  • Leading test automation strategy and mentoring testers on the automation testing process.

Our Commitment to You

At Admiral, we are committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace. Admiral is proud to be an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, reproductive health decisions, or related medical conditions), national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other legally protected status.

All qualified applicants will receive equal consideration for employment.

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.

At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We have great benefits to ensure employees have a great work-life balance; it's one of the reasons we’re consistently voted one of the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For in the UK. We want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this, so accommodate flexible hours wherever possible.

All colleagues will receive 33 days holiday (including banks holidays) when they join us, and this will increase with length of service, up to a maximum of 38 days (including banks holidays). You also have the option to buy or sell up to five days of annual leave in addition to your allocation.
