The department continues to build on top of and around the core systems to bring more innovation and technical excellence, including Cloud adoption, big data technologies and furthering our digital offerings.  The Portfolio Management Office helps to support and deliver the vision, through facilitating Leadership to make informed decisions and aid the Delivery teams to deliver high quality changes supported by leaner governance.

About the role

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working in a hands-on Data Analyst role with Portfolio Management experience.

You will ideally have an analytical mind and an excellent PMO tooling skillset.  You will work within the Portfolio Office team to support bringing together a view of key metrics and insight across the whole change portfolio.  We are on a transformation as a Portfolio Office to really understand the value of projects in Admiral’s portfolio, we would love to find someone who has a depth of experience of Portfolio Tooling, Data Analysis and Lean Portfolio Management.

You will be joining the team at an exciting time, in the early stages of evolving the team there is plenty of opportunity to shape and grow the Portfolio Office.  You will be encouraged to identify opportunities and process improvements, reporting to the Portfolio Operations Lead, assisting the team to generate accurate reporting and insight to drive the embedding of Agile Ceremonies, PI Planning and Lean Portfolio Management.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure visibility at delivery level on Strategy, Initiatives, Outcomes and Key Results from a tooling and roadmap perspective
  • Support delivery teams to comply with quality standards​ and delivery Governance Framework, provide support with completing documentation when required, ensure traceability for any future audits
  • Share Agile principles and culture in the PMO and work continually to improve the tools and templates used by the team to capture relevant data  
  • Provide quality information on ART (Agile Release Train) progress against business outcomes to the Portfolio Management Office
  • Track delivery key metrics (agile performance) agreed by Leadership, supported through improved data quality, tooling and automation
  • Provide support to delivery teams and oversee the day-to-day operations, monthly business reviews, critical dependency management and the syncronisation of teams in the Portfolio
  • Support tracking the costs for the Agile delivery teams, manage any requests/ business cases to change the ART (Agile Release Train) sizing
  • Drive collaboration and continuous improvement mind-set within the PMO and Agile Coaching team

You…What we’re looking for:

You will have solid experience in data analysis, ideally in a hands-on Agile role within a Lean Portfolio Management context.  You will have a good background in using Portfolio tooling to support agile practices and ways of working including understanding of Agile reporting, critical dependency management and Agile ceremonies.   

You may have experience of reviewing business objectives and support tracking these into business KPI’s/ OKR’s to support sound decision making.  As you will be in an analyst role reporting/ tooling is a key skill required for the role (experience of using tools such as Jira, Confluence and Power BI).  You will have great communication skills, written and verbal and be an active listener. 

We want someone who is passionate about continuous improvement and with innovative ideas to keep us evolving and pushing our team and its ways of working forward with automation and lean governance. You will also be passionate about people and motivating them to achieve their full potential and being pro-active in seeking out solutions to issues.  We also want someone with an eye for detail, who is passionate about ensuring we have good quality data inputs, to deliver accurate reporting and insight through the output we deliver. 

Ideally you will have had experience of managing change in a large organisation with an ability to manage a variety of stakeholders across multiple levels.  Previous experience with hybrid models, with a good awareness of different delivery methods and governance approaches would also be an advantage.  An ability to coach others to improve their knowledge and skills is also desirable.
