On 1st April 2025, the FCA and PRA’s Operational Resilience regulations came into full effect for the UK financial services industry to ensure the resiliency of firms’ Important Business Services (IBS). The objective of the regulation is to ensure that firms like Admiral can prevent, adapt, respond to, recover, and learn from operational disruptions. 

The Operational Resilience team is currently hiring an Operational Resilience Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you will coordinate and support the continuous development, embedding and management of Operational Resilience activities within Admiral EUI.

You will work closely with a broad range of stakeholders, including target business areas to understand and analyse Operational Resilience needs across the company. Working diligently to support our Important Business Services (IBS) within EUI, you will instil best practice to ensure continuous compliance to regulations, and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of the Operational Resilience framework, ensuring that it is embedded across the organisation and in line with regulatory obligations.
  • Leading activities and discussions around the Operational Resilience eight steps, including;
    • IBS identification and impact tolerance setting
    • IBS dependency mapping
    • Resilience assessments and resilience vulnerability identification             
    • Scenario testing
  • Engaging and collaborating with stakeholders across Admiral (such as Claims, Pet, Travel Ops, IT and Household) acting as an advocate for Operational Resilience to spread awareness and drive activities.
  • Performing scenario testing across all IBS areas and departments to assess resiliency and identify gaps in both Operational Resilience and third-party resilience.
  • Tracking Operational Resilience vulnerabilities to ensure they are remediated and/or mitigated, and proactively identifying new ones that need to be addressed and controls, risks and mitigations.
  • Supporting the running of the Operational Resilience Committee and Operational Resilience Working Group, including producing meeting packs and minutes.
  • Support elements of third-party resilience as part of the Operational Resilience eight steps, ensuring third party resilience requirements are embedded across EUI.
  • Supporting the production of annual self-assessment of operational resilience work performed within the Operational Resilience area.
  • Reviewing change activity across the business to assess and understand potential Operational Resilience impacts.

In addition to the above core responsibilities, you will be expected to assist the team in delivering against our wider objectives including management support, as necessary.

Experience/Skills required

Essential:

  • Experience or knowledge in Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, Third Party Resilience, Risk and compliance.
  • Solutions focussed, especially when dealing with challenges.
  • Methodical with good attention to detail.
  • Experience in risk/issue identification and root cause analysis.
  • Awareness of IT and Technology concepts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of governance frameworks, process and flow mapping.
  • Able to collaborate with, influence, and support a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Able to manage and prioritise a varied workload and deadlines.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the Financial Services regulatory environment.
  • A inside knowledge of Admiral, its departments and the risk environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of governance frameworks, risk, and compliance.
  • Experience of developing and establishing new procedures and processes.
  • Able to analyse information or situations and make informed decisions or recommendations.
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of writing reports and minutes.
  • Confident running workshops and meetings.
  • Understanding or involvement within a Procurement / Supplier environment.
