The Team:

  • We are a small team of dedicated engineers who provide a secure and modern desktop experience to our global workforce. We are client tooling specialists and responsible for the backend systems used to deploy, provision, and manage end user devices and package their applications.
  • We are one of several service teams that make up the Modern Workplace function within Admiral IT – each playing a pivotal role on the journey for our end users. We work closely with other teams and support projects as we continue to transform our services to meet the growing demands of our business.
  • Admiral is renowned for its culture, being named a Centre of Excellence in Wellbeing, and being listed as a “Great Place to Work” for the last 21 years. If you are looking for a new opportunity and believe you are a good fit, please send us your application.

The Role:

We are looking for an End User Computing Engineer who has experience in working with Microsoft technologies and third-party products used to manage endpoints and applications across the end user estate.

Examples of technologies we use are as follows:

  • Virtual Desktop Environments – RDS, Citrix, Horizon and Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Deployment, Provisioning and Patching – Autopilot, MDT, SCCM, and Dell Tooling

While we do not expect you to have experience with all the tools listed above, as every estate is different, it is essential that you demonstrate the right attitude and work ethic.

We are looking for someone that enjoys solving problems and finding ways to improve our services and develop our systems to ensure a consistent user experience is achieved across our offering.

What we are looking for:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within an IT support or managed services function.
  • Highly technical with hands-on experience of troubleshooting issues and resolving problems.
  • Experience with on-premises technology such as AD, Group Policy and AppLocker.
  • Exposure to Microsoft 365 technologies such as Intune, Conditional Access and OneDrive.
  • Experience in managing endpoints, the build process and backend systems.
  • Experience in packaging and deploying applications, drivers, and updates to endpoints.
  • Experience with tools that manage and secure Windows, Mac and mobile devices.

What the day-to-day may look like:

This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success

  • At all stages, working closely with and under the guidance of the EUC SME/Design Authority (D&E):
  •
  • Manage and administer the endpoint management systems for Windows and Apple devices.
  • Ensure OS upgrades, patches and feature releases are tested and deployed in a staged deployment, ensuring stability and consistency.
  • Control the hardware standards for procurement: Laptops, desktop, developer machines, mobiles etc.
  • Software – control the packaging, testing, deployment, and management of application software across all EUC endpoints.
  • AppLocker Management – control the whitelisting catalogue for applications and DLLs against roles.
  • Manage and administer applications employed to ensure EUC endpoints are secured, and user privileges are controlled, using a variety of tooling.
  • Project delivery – work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, cross-function environment to ensure project deliverables are met, maintaining quality of output and accountability for EUC-led elements.
  • Validate projects during transition to BAU, ensuring appropriate management and support is in place.
  • Ensure CIS benchmarks are regularly revised and applied to OS (Windows/MacOS) and applications.
  • Work closely with third party vendors on the latest feature releases, service problems and renewals.
  • Proactive identification and resolution of performance anomalies, system defects and stability issues.
  • Produce and maintain technical processes, documentation and knowledge base articles for systems.
  • Provide peer support and knowledge transfer to colleagues within other teams and functions in IT.
  • Work with our InfoSec teams to ensure systems remain safe and secure from emerging threats.
  • Work with the Change Management team on proposed changes, assessing and minimising risk and any potential impact to services.
