About the role:

A vacancy has arisen within Admiral Financial Services for an Underwriter to join the team. The role involves managing referred applications through the full acquisition cycle. This includes fraud, credit and affordability decisioning, as well as customer contact processes. The Underwriter will work on Unsecured Personal Loan and Car Finance (PCP & HP) products and will play a vital role in supporting the business meet its ambitious growth targets.

The successful candidate will be able to quickly fit into a fast-moving, innovative and high-profile environment, and will be required to hit the ground running; at least one years’ prior experience in an underwriting role is therefore a prerequisite.

Duties include:

  • Underwriting referred applications in accordance with AFSL policy
  • Assessing customer supplied documents in order to satisfy fraud, affordability or credit concerns
  • Ensuring consistent decisions are made within expected timescales
  • Understanding changes to policy or process and adapting effectively
  • Proactive feedback to senior/manager on process improvements
  • Direct customer contact via telephony or email

Required skills and experience:

  • At least one years’ underwriting experience in a lending business is essential
  • Contribute positively to the Admiral culture
  • Have the confidence to challenge existing work practices to ensure we are continuously improving as a team
  • Able to work on their own initiative with excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work as process/systems evolve
  • Positive outlook and able to demonstrate a positive influence on those around you
  • A strong focus on quality, receptive to feedback and effective when giving feedback to others
  • Be an effective communicator with all levels of staff, verbal and written
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a high performing team
  • Capable of thriving in a target driven environment
  • Experience with the following would be advantageous:
  • Unsecured personal loans or Motor Finance
  • CIFAS/SIRA loadings and assessments
  • Open Banking/PSD2

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance:
