Reporting to the Technology Governance Manager within the Technology Risk Assurance Team, the Technology Governance Lead will work as part of a governance team driving the development and delivery of an enhanced Governance framework for Technology and Security, working closely with relevant Subject Matter experts.

Playing a key role within the team, the Governance Lead will work closely with the Technology Governance Manager leading on technology and security risk governance activities and engagement with key stakeholders. They will design and embed governance processes and produce reporting documentation for Technology and Risk and Compliance Committees.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, influencing, advising on and embedding key requirements within technology and security policies and standards. They will also act as subject matter expert for technology and security Standard exceptions and associated risk. They will oversee compliance responses ensuring that they are validated, communicated appropriately, and evidenced.

They will provide specialist technology and security expertise and guidance both within the team and more widely across the IT function and businesses as required.

Main Duties

  • Coach and mentor Technology Governance Analysts.
  • Supporting coordination and development of technology and security policies and standards and controls framework.
  • Providing guidance on policies, standards and controls as required.
  • Stakeholder advisory.
  • Design and implementation of governance processes.
  • Produce reporting documentation for Technology and Risk and Compliance Committees.
  • Coach and mentor users on governance processes.
  • Keeping abreast of upcoming changes to Group Policy/external regulations.
  • Embedding Governance processes across EUI.
  • Making recommendations regarding exceptions and ensuring associated risks are reported/tracked.
  • Managing third party and regulatory responses, questionnaires.
  • Review of Technology and Security Group Policy and Standards attestations.
  • Audit action reporting/oversight.
  • Review/sign-off of Service Now governance procedures.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Subject Matter expertise: have a deep knowledge of IT / technology governance frameworks, allowing you to be recognised as an expert within the business. You’ll have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Technology/Security Governance Risk and Compliance role.
  • Experience of writing technology and/or security policies and standards.
  • Previous experience of designing/implementing policy/governance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of widely accepted good practice frameworks (eg COBIT, ITIL, ISO etc.).
  • Initiative and pro-activity: take effective and informed decisions using own initiative and based upon a sound understanding of the business issues and challenges of the business.
  • Clear and appropriate communication for employees at all levels with the ability to discuss technical subjects with both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to articulate and pitch governance advice, often at a technical level, directly to key customer stakeholders.
  • Planning and Organising: develop clear, efficient, and logical approaches to tackle issues and problems in a logical, step-by-step way. Ability to effectively collaborate, and work independently in a fast-growing organisation.
  • Customer focus: an understanding of customer priorities and a desire to support their expectations. 

Desirable:

  • Experience working within a regulated environment such as the financial services sector.
  • Hold one or more relevant qualifications, for example CISSP, CRISC, CISM.
  • Previous experience of using the ServiceNow platform.
