"Senior IFRS Reporting Accountant
This is a role within the Group financial reporting team supporting various aspects of the Group finance function. You will be expected to be heavily involved in IFRS statutory accounting and reporting, and other regulatory reporting activities. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in a wide number of financial reporting areas.
The role requires a proactive candidate with strong technical understanding, and a focus on financial and regulatory reporting processes and documentation, communication and organisational skills, and data quality and control. Candidates will be circa 3 years post qualified in a recognised accounting qualification with specific experience with IFRS accounting standards and/or experience in external reporting with large corporate entities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor upcoming developments in accounting standards, including preparing and presenting impact assessments in respect of specific new standards, or upcoming transactions for entities across the Group.
- Lead the coordination of the annual report, acting as business partner to contributors outside finance, including providing challenge and support on compliance with external reporting trends/new regulatory disclosures.
- Monitor and challenge compliance of financial statements and other regulatory reporting with relevant standards, identifying areas for development.
- Develop and enhance reporting processes, data collection and documentation across the Group.
- Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, in particular the Group external audit team, including preparing and managing certain deliverables to ensure smooth transfer of information between the audit team and all business areas.
- Provide additional general support and complete ad-hoc tasks as required by Group Finance teams.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Circa 3 years post qualified in a recognised accounting qualification
- Strong technical ability: able to independently interpret accounting standards and regulatory requirements, prepare analysis and present impact assessments to senior management
- Self-motivated, proactive with a can do attitude towards work
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
- Strong task management skills including an ability to prioritise tasks and regularly manage multiple deliverables
- Ideally experience of working within the Financial Services (insurance) industry
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills
