"

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled agile squad in which you will be part of a project to transform the way customers interact with Admiral. We’re building out our conversational AI capabilities, and we’re looking for someone to help ensure that we build the best possible conversational journeys.

We’re using tools such as Google Cloud Platform, Dialogflow CX, Azure DevOps, Terraform and Git as well as some others we haven’t identified yet. You will play a proactive role in improving our customer journeys and agent experiences and delivering significant business value through our new omni channel CCaaS.

About the team

You will be part of a Virtual Agent squad within the Customer Engagement Tribe. Additionally, you will be part of the QA chapter, which sits across several squads within the tribe. The teams try to follow Agile principles and best practices in order to deliver high quality software, and we’re always open to suggestions on how we can get even better.

This role is open to remote-working candidates.

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual, who can think creatively to solve problems and collaborates well with others. You must have a keen interest in testing and quality assurance, applying shift-left, test-first principles. As you will be working with systems that use chat as their front end, we will be looking for you to use your experience to help shape how best to gain confidence in the quality of the system.

We are looking for someone who can work both independently and as part of a squad within a fast-paced and changing environment. We love for people to have opinions on how we can improve, and the ability to share those opinions productively.

Responsibilities

Within the multi-discipline squad, you will be responsible for leading efforts to ensure the quality of the services and applications we are developing. This will include:

  • Refining user stories and defining the test approach for them.
  • Writing automated tests in our testing framework (backend and frontend).
  • Contributing to improvements of the testing framework.
  • Recording, analysing, and managing defects found during testing.
  • Participation in sprint ceremonies and championing a shift-left approach to testing for earlier feedback in the development lifecycle.
  • Working closely with product managers and developers to gain expertise in what the product does and how it works.
  • Working with the developers to advise on how to build and design code level tests.
  • Contributing to test strategies, collaborating with others in continually improving the test process and raising standards within the squad.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in an agile environment.
  • Experience of working collaboratively to improve overall test and other processes.
  • Experience with automated acceptance testing via UI based tooling (eg Postman).
  • Exposure to integrating automated testing into a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Exposure to working in cloud-based git repositories.
  • The ability to learn new skills, tools, and new problem domains.
  • The ability to think about test coverage holistically and guide the team to improving it.
  • Please note that whilst this role will require writing codified automated acceptance tests, we’re happy for candidates to not currently have experience in this skill, if they show a willingness and capacity to learn.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Good knowledge of web technologies, especially server-side ones.
  • Experience in building test automation code.
  • Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS).
  • Knowledge of telephony systems or contact centres.

Interview Process

There will be a two-stage process for this vacancy; one online test and one 60-minute interview via MS Teams.

Location

For Hybrid workers (within a 50-mile radius of our Cardiff HQ) there is an expectation to work from the office twice a month.  For remote workers (outside of a 50-mile radius of our Cardiff HQ) there is an expectation to attend the office a handful of times a year when required (i.e big meetings, workshops etc).

Please note - we may close this vacancy early if we receive lots of applications or business priorities change.

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.

At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We have great benefits to ensure employees have a great work-life balance; it's one of the reasons we’re consistently voted one of the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to work for in the UK. We want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this, so accommodate flexible hours wherever possible.

All colleagues will receive 33 days holiday (including banks holidays) when they join us, and this will increase with length of service, up to a maximum of 38 days (including banks holidays). You also have the option to buy or sell up to five days of annual leave in addition to your allocation.

You can also view some of our other key benefits here.
