Our Litigation Department are recruiting and are offering a unique and exciting opportunity for those seeking to advance in their legal career by joining our MOJ Post Limitation Team (MPL). This is a fee earning role, and you will be responsible for running your own case load.
The MPL Team act on behalf of clients claiming personal injury and financial losses arising out of a road traffic accidents. The successful candidate will deal with a caseload of claims that are litigated and you will always act in the best interests of your client, advancing the case proactively to a positive outcome for our client. Your caseload will comprise of liability admitted cases valued at between £5,000.00 and £25,000.00.
You will be responsible for offering excellent client care and ensuring that all aspects of injuries and losses are explored and advanced. Injuries may range from general orthopaedic injuries to varied investigations and medical reports; often your claims will have multiple medical experts instructed. Investigations into financial losses can often require detailed and specialist advice, and may range from employed loss of earnings, self-employed losses to on-going treatment or care needs, amongst others. Exceptional client care skills are highly desirable.
Whilst previous litigation experience is desirable, it is not essential and you will be provided with the opportunity to grow and develop through close links with other experienced fee earners in the team and learn from their mentoring and buddying schemes.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing Medical Reports & valuing injury claims
- Reviewing financial losses
- Drafting Court Documents and issuing claims
- Advising clients in respect of quantum
- Considering prospects and taking a pragmatic approach to settlements
Skills and Experience
- Ability to prioritise and manage a full case load
- Previous Personal Injury/Case Handling experience is essential
- Good Numeracy/Literacy and IT skills
- Good time management
- Previous litigation experience would be advanteagous
