The Data Tribe is responsible for driving Admiral’s data strategy. We efficiently deliver data pipelines, reports, and analytical capabilities, harnessing innovative techniques and the latest technologies. About you

The Data Engineer will ensure that data solutions are designed and delivered to meet the functional and non-functional demands of the Business and customer. The Data Engineer will be part of a team made up of mixed capabilities, and they should be comfortable working independently as well as part of this diverse team to deliver a shared goal. We aim to create an inclusive and safe environment for Engineers to pursue their own ideas, make their own decisions and empower them to implement and explore them. The role requires the Data Engineer to support what they develop and maybe expected to cover out of hours on-call.

Technologies and methodologies

We are looking for people with experience of any of the below or similar: 

  •      Cloud Technologies such as Google Cloud Platform
  •      Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server or relevant RDBMS 
  •      MicroStrategy, Looker, or other BI reporting tools 
  •      WhereScape or similar automation tools 
  •       Analytics and data visualisation
  •       Data warehousing
  •       ETL
  •       Python
  •       IAC such as Terraform
  •       GIT or other version control
  •       DevOps and CICD
  •       Agile practice

Location

For Hybrid workers (within a 50-mile radius of our Cardiff HQ) there is an expectation to work from the office twice a month.  For remote workers (outside of a 50-mile radius of our Cardiff HQ) there is an expectation to attend the office a handful of times a year when required (i.e big meetings, workshops etc).

Interview Process

Interviews will be via MS Teams and will take place throughout April.  This is a two-stage process which includes an online assessment.

Salary, Benefits, and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
