"Department Overview
The investment function provides continuous oversight of the Group’s cash and investments. This includes investments across various insurance entities and for the Group holding company. It specifically focusses of all aspects of market risk and counterparty risk faced by the Group. The investment function also manages certain bank relationships, FX, liquidity and funding, as well as supporting the reporting and capital modelling teams. The Head of Investment reports to the CFO and is responsible for running the Group’s Investment Committee.
Key Aspects of the Role
Reporting to the Head of Investment and supporting the Group’s Investment Committee, this is a hands-on role with key responsibilities including:
- Supporting in strategy design, asset liability management and other risk management.
- Supporting the development of the responsible investment strategy.
- Monitoring cashflow, liquidity analysis and forecasting.
- Drafting papers for the Investment Committee to review.
- Delivering high quality investment analysis and information, as well as enhancing the Group’s investment reporting capabilities.
- Developing relationships with asset managers, banks and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Reporting on the cash and investment positions across the Group. This includes supporting a project to streamline the investment and market risk reporting.
- To support the Head of Investments across a range of investment strategy and implementation decisions as outlined above. This includes
- Asset liability matching and interest rate management.
- Credit risk management.
- FX risk management
- Yield enhancement subject to risk appetite and capital requirements.
- Research and monitoring of the asset managers appointed across the Group.
- Research and monitoring of best practice across responsible investment and impact investing.Cashflow, liquidity analysis and forecasting.
- Credit research and counterparty monitoring.
- Prepare budgets for investment income.
- Drafting of investment disclosures for the report and accounts.
- Drafting (and eventually delivering) papers and presentations to Investment Committee and Boards.
- Maintaining strong relationships across internal stakeholders including reporting, accounting, actuarial, investor relations, risk and compliance.
Requirements
- Degree education, preferably in a numerical subject.
- 1+ years of relevant experience.
