We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join us at Admiral. You will combine systems administration expertise with an aptitude for service improvement, problem solving, and analysis. You ensure our IT services remain in good health, up to date with the latest features, and well-adopted across the organisation. Some notable technologies:

  • M365 – Azure AD, SharePoint Online, EOL, Intune, Teams, Azure B2B, Cond. Access
  • Enterprise Messaging - Exchange 2016, Exchange Online and Enterprise Vault
  • Virtual Desktop Services - Citrix VDI, Azure Virtual Desktop, FSLogix, UPM
  • On-Premises - AD, DNS, DHCP, DFS, File Shares, FTP, Group Policy

Essentials

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within an IT department or services provider
  • Technical with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and resolving problems
  • Experience with on-premises services such as AD, Group Policy and Windows Servers
  • Experience supporting a Microsoft 365 tenant with Azure AD and Conditional Access

Desirables

  • Experience developing SharePoint Online sites - Intranet, themes, hub sites, add-ins
  • Experience with Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365 or Citrix Virtual Desktop
  • Experience with M365 Security – Access Logs, Defender, Cond. Access Policy Design

We do not expect you to have experience with all the tools listed above as every estate is different, but it is essential that you have the right attitude and worth ethic. We are looking for someone that enjoys solving problems, finding ways to improve our services and develop our systems to ensure a consistent user experience is archived across our offering.

About the Team

We are a team of engineers that manage and support the capabilities within our Microsoft 365 Tenant, Virtual Desktop estate and some of the on-premises services such as Active Directory, Group Policy and DNS. We provide a range of managed services to our distributed workforce, allowing them to get the most out of technology to carry out their role.

We are one of several service teams that make up the Modern Workplace function, each playing a pivotal role on the journey for our end users. We work closely with the other teams and support projects as we continue to transform the environment.

Main Duties

This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success.

  • Manage and administer core systems and services for the team.
  • Ensure feature releases and upgrades are well communicated and deployed properly
  • Proactive maintenance of IT systems through monitoring, alerting & housekeeping.
  • Work closely with vendors on the feature releases, service problems, and renewals.
  • Identify and resolve of performance anomalies, system defects and stability issues.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation and KB articles for systems.
  • Provide peer support and knowledge transfer to colleagues and other teams.
  • Work with our InfoSec teams to ensure systems remain safe and secure.
  • Ensure appropriate management and support is in place for new solutions
  • Work with the change management team on changes, assessing risk and impact
  • Liaising with other departments within the business to ensure IT needs are met
