"We are looking for talented and driven individuals to join our Complex Department here at Admiral Law.
The Complex department deals with road traffic accident personal injury claims, acting on behalf of Claimants who have been injured and who may have suffered significant financial losses. This is a fee earning role, and you will be responsible for running your own case load. Such claims will involve complex issues of fact or law, and will often require letter of claim and drop outs from the MOJ portal due to reasons of complexity or value.
The department is split into Litigation and Pre-Litigation teams and we currently have recruitment for both areas (depending on whether the applicant has Part 7 litigation experience or not).
This advert specifically deals with our Pre-Litigation teams and focuses on those claims which have initially been run in the MOJ Portal and need to be dropped or which are too complex to be run through the portal so require a letter of claim, and may well be likely to exceed £25,000. Such claims may include Part 8 Litigation.
You will always act in the best interests of your client, advancing the case proactively to a positive outcome for our client. Your caseload will comprise a mixture of liability admitted and denied cases, with potential to be of significant value. Your role is central to developing these cases, either settling them yourself, issuing Part 8 proceedings, or referring them to our Complex litigation or Serious Injuries Team where appropriate to transfer to Part 7.
You will be responsible for offering excellent client care and ensuring that all aspects of injuries and losses are explored and advanced. Injuries may range from general orthopaedic injuries to varied investigations and medical reports which may include neurological, ENT and/or fibromyalgia injuries; often your claims will have multiple medical experts instructed. Investigations into financial losses can often require detailed and specialist advice, and may range from employed loss of earnings, self-employed losses to on-going treatment or care needs, amongst others. You will also be responsible for running Fatality, Bankruptcy and Capacity claims, which can require exceptional levels of client care, technicality, and sensitivity. Exceptional client care skills are therefore highly desirable.
Within the Complex Department, you will have opportunities to work closely with the Serious Injuries Team, often investigating and building a claim towards potential high settlement (ie over £25,000) at which point the claim will be transferred to the Serious Injuries Teams with a personal referral from you. You will have the opportunity to grow and develop through close links with solicitors within the serious injuries team and learn from their mentoring and buddying schemes. There will also be opportunities to shadow members of that Team on significant and catastrophic Multi-Track cases, attending conferences, hearings and settlement meetings.
Your Experience
The successful applicant would be expected to demonstrate previous experience in handling their own caseload of Personal Injury files, to include previous experience of reviewing medical reports and valuing claims using JC Guidelines and case law. Dealing with the MOJ Portal, or having experience of Part 8 claims would be beneficial. Client care skills are key.
The Role
You will be based in Ty Admiral in Cardiff City Centre, working core hours of 39.5 per week (Part time applications may apply). The role is one which aligns with our Smart Working model, meaning your weeks will be split both at home and in the office (minimum 2 days a week). For any new external applicants, there is a minimum requirement of 1 month in office training which will include your in person induction. This may be extended to 3 months where necessary.
In addition to your case handling role, you will be expected to mentor handlers in other areas of the business, assisting them with queries via face to face and team clinics, workshops and training opportunities.
You will be provided with an achievable target (to include settlement and billing performance measures). Additionally, you will be expected to play your part in any marketing events, both internal and external.
A quarterly Cash Bonus Scheme is also available (based on performance), in addition to Admiral Law’s Share Scheme.
Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance
We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package. We advise the role will be Hybrid, where you will work around 2 days in our Cardiff office, and 3 days working from home.
At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We have great benefits to ensure employees have a great work-life balance; it's one of the reasons we have been consistently voted one of Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For in the UK. We want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this, so accommodate flexible hours wherever possible.
