We have an exciting opportunity to join our Finance team as an Accountant.

You will be based in the EUI UK (insurance intermediary) Finance team in Cardiff and reporting to a Senior Accountant/Finance Manager.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring our month end processes are completed accurately and timely as well as providing management information and support to Admiral’s UK insurance businesses.

Role Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a good understanding of the activities of the business and a strong working relationship with senior managers across the entire business, in order to be able to provide financial, numerical and procedural assistance to a variety of departments
  • Timely completion of Month End activities and thorough understanding of key accounting double entries within EUI
  • Supporting the production of insurance bordereaux issued to the Group’s insurance companies and co-insurers
  • Own and manage key balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate and timely reconciliation monthly, as well as investigating any differences
  • Developing existing control and accounting processes and driving improvements with a view to reduce the time it takes to complete month end activities
  • Support with maximising the benefits of the newly implemented Financial Accounting software package (Microsoft Dynamics), suggesting enhancements where needed
  • Supporting with the identification of accounting processes, controls and MI improvements for new products as appropriate
  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory accounts disclosures
  • Support the internal and external audit process
  • Providing general support and completing ad-hoc tasks as required by heads of departments across the business in addition to Finance managers

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified Accountant with experience in a Financial Accounting or Management Accounting
  • Experience of accounting / month end processes and a good understanding of internal financial controls
  • Desire to probe further into data, pro-active in all aspects of the role
  • Deadline-orientated and an ability to stick to time constraints
  • Negotiation skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Good communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong academic background with strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and large data sets manipulation skills
  • Microsoft Dynamics experience desirable
  • Insurance, Intercompany, Payroll and Share schemes accounting understanding desirable
