As a proud Women in Data partner, we’re committed to ensuring that women are equipped with the right network and opportunities to thrive in their data careers.
Reyam is a Digital Data Scientist at Admiral, and a great ambassador for women in data. Reyam uses her time to offer free web development courses to women in the Middle East, inspiring many to pursue a career in data.
Reyam tells us how she got into data and what her career has involved so far.
“The story started when I was a child, fixing electronic toys became a hobby and as I grew, my interest in technology and data grew too. When it came to studying a degree, I chose Computer Engineering. During this time, I studied modules related to databases and artificial intelligence, which soon became my favourite area. I studied my degree in the Middle East, then moved to the UK in 2018.”
“When I moved, I was about to start my MSc in Artificial Intelligence, and while studying I volunteered to teach databases to refugees and asylum seekers.”
“I continue to offer free courses for women in the Middle East covering web development and databases, and I use my social media accounts to motivate people to start their journey in data and technology.”
“In my career to date, I’ve worked as a Full Stack Developer, Software Engineer, AI Project Leader and a Consultant. I recently joined Admiral as a Digital Data Scientist, and I love working here as it supports my passion and ambitions for AI and Data Science, and allows me to use my skills every day on new and exciting projects. I’m also able to develop professionally by studying for the ILM 5 Leadership and Management qualification with the support of my manager.”
We really believe that diversity leads to a more successful and forward-thinking business, and we’re committed to empowering women to explore opportunities in STEM by sharing these experiences and continuing the conversation.
