Are you a UI specialist? Do you love making components and being interaction focused? Are looking to specialise in a career in UI design?

We’re looking for someone with a passion for creating great, intuitive user interface components to work within our design systems team. As part of the design system team, you will work with other UI designers to help maintain, create, and organise new components into our design libraries.

As a UI designer, you will need to enjoy all aspects of user interface design, from their conception to their execution – seeing them come to life in development. We want someone who is ready to specialise in a career in UI and loves all things Figma.

The role will need to adhere to brand guidelines and deliver components that scale. Working on a number of brands, across a number of channels, you will need to get your hands dirty in creating assets and understand how to take the static UI into development to bring our components to life.

Note: This is not a UX role. Applicants do not require a UX background, skillset or experience. The UI designer role will specialise in just UI and UI components, with an separate UX team handling any UX requirements.

Requirements:

  • ‘Expert’ in using Figma, with demonstratable examples of projects undertaken.
  • Experienced background in creating front-end UI for digital products.
  • Ability to demonstrate UI component creation from scratch.
  • Experience working with Design Systems, asset libraries or UI systems.
  • Ability to create high quality responsive UI designs.
  • Evidence of working with developers to ensure pixel-perfect UI implementation.
  • Strong skills in accessibility.
  • Knowledge of how to optimise designs for the design systems.
  • Experience in organising and maintaining components, through the use of documentation.
  • Good communication skills and understanding of how to deliver designs to development teams.
  • Ability to adhere to brand guidelines.

Nice-to-haves (non-essential):

  • Have a good understanding of interaction design.
  • Understanding and experience in using Figma variable, variants, and properties.
  • Understanding and experience in design tokens.
  • Experience in Sketch or XD.
  • Experience in creating brand guidelines.
  • An awareness of HTML, CSS and front end practices.
  • Understanding and experience in Atomic Design Principles.
  • Knowledge of Storybook.
  • Knowledge of Chromatic.

Please note - we may close this vacancy early if we receive lots of applications or business priorities change.
