We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.
About the Role
This role is a 12-month FTC to provide cover for an internal secondment. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our Cardiff office at least 1 day per week.
This role supports the Operational Risk and Financial Crime capabilities within the AFSL Chief Risk Officer area. You will play a vital role in ensuring the effective implementation of risk management practices in AFSL. You’ll need to forge and maintain close working relationships with first line colleagues, our counterparts in the Admiral Group, the Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer, and other members of the AFSL CRO team. You’ll also provide administrative support to some of the most important governance meetings and risk processes in AFSL. Some knowledge of data analytics would be helpful, but not essential.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting first line colleagues with RMF processes such as Risk & Control Register completion, logging risk events and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) production.
- Preparing monthly Risk Management Committee packs and taking accurate minutes
- Managing risk events and performing root cause analysis
- Working closely with our Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer on financial crime matters.
- Ensuring the Risk Management System is up-to-date
- Maintaining a suite of regular financial crime and operational risk reporting
- Liaising with Group Risk & Compliance colleagues
Skills and experience:
- You will have an interest in risk management and financial crime, perhaps with a formal qualification (e.g. Institute of Risk Management / International Compliance Association)
- You will have experience of concepts like risk identification and assessment, risk reporting, internal control and control testing/risk reviews
- You will be able to work independently, proactively and multi-task
- You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- You will be used to building and fostering strong relationships
- Proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Experience of current data analytics tools and languages (e.g. SQL, Power BI) not required, but helpful
- Ideally you will previously have worked in the Financial Services industry
