We are looking for a Team Manager to manage a team of Penetration Testers supporting the delivery of business changes and projects and carrying out testing on critical assets. The team supports fast paced change in an exciting and growing business as Admiral continues to develop its offerings placing the customer at the centre of everything we do. 

As a Penetration Testing Team Manager your main duties will be to:

  • Understand the Strategic Business Objectives and empower the team of testers to achieve them.
  • Line management duties for direct reports with a focus on coaching and mentoring techniques that align to both agile principles and Admiral values.
  • Effectively administer team’s compensation, benefits and promotion processes and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Run regular 1 to 1s meetings with the team members.
  • Manage the day to day activities of the team, including removal of blockers to delivery of work.
  • Provide escalation points and support to the team in delivering their testing activities.
  • Ownership of the artefacts and tools required by the penetration testing team including device specifications, methodologies, and tools.
  • Procurement and maintenance of tools and licences required by the penetration testing team.
  • Liaise and collaborate with technical stakeholders within Agile Tribes, Projects, and Programmes. 
  • Engage effectively with specialists in Security Architecture, Security Operations, Security Culture, Security Delivery, and Security Risk and Governance teams to ensure completeness and consistency of the advice provided to delivery functions.
  • Act as a champion for information security initiatives and maintain high standards of integrity and professionalism.
  • Be responsible for the delivery of penetration testing activities to support both change related projects and testing required on existing critical systems.
  • Contribute to, and maintain, an effective risk management mechanism to ensure that system owners have accurate and current a view of information risk exposure.
  • Recruitment, development, and retention of technical resources including career pathway development for all team members.  
  • Apply effective performance management processes and mechanisms supporting squad leaders and product owners in increasing squad performance.  
  • Provide an inclusive environment where team members have freedom and safety to innovate, experiment, and learn from failure.

Experience & Skills Required 

  • Understanding of project delivery in a technology environment.  
  • Understanding of the core concepts of penetration testing.
  • Team management and staff development.
  • Experience of agile and waterfall delivery environments.
  • Knowledge of at least one risk methodology.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills and a proven track record of working with businesses to meet strategic objectives.
  • Ability to discuss complex and technical problems and solutions in business language.
  • Confident in presenting recommendations to the Security and Programme Leadership.
  • Great influencer, enabling the business to deliver safely and at pace.
  • Proactive and can work on own initiative with the ability to effectively prioritise work.

Salary, Benefits, and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
