An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior HR Business Partner to join Admiral’s People team (on a 12-month contract).

You will join a busy team supporting a diverse range of HR activities.  Reporting into a Business Partner, this role acts as the point of people expertise for their business area; working with the management team to deliver creative, solution-focussed, and innovative ways of working that allows the business to deliver its strategic goals in a sustainable and consistent manner.

The Business Partners team plays a central role in delivering people led initiatives, working alongside centres of excellence (for example L&D, Reward, Recruitment, D&I, Wellbeing) and operational support teams to drive business change and help the organisation meet its objectives. Working closely with partners in the business, the People team is not only a conduit for the delivery of the people strategy into the business, but an active participant in influencing and shaping its delivery. Coaching managers in operational implementation and colleague welfare, the People team’s focus is centred on enabling business strategy by delivering great people approaches to business challenges. 

We are looking for someone with previous HR experience at an operational level, working with all levels of the business.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supporting, coaching, and advising Operational Managers on people management processes such as absence and performance management, colleague welfare etc
  • Analysing data to provide recommendations to enhance business performance
  • Using early intervention mediation techniques to prevent or minimise employee relations issues escalating
  • Managing appeals and grievances to completion, providing feedback and recommendations to all relevant parties to improve future employee relations
  • Wellbeing support, guidance, and coaching
  • Assisting with onboarding new colleagues
  • Employee relations

This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Generalist HR experience in a fast-paced role
  • Working knowledge of Employment Law and of current HR best practice
  • Proven ability to develop and effectively manage relationships
  • Ability to interpret data within business context and use HR knowledge to propose solutions to people challenges
  • Resilient with ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload
  • HR qualification (CIPD Level 5) an advantage but not essential
