An exciting opportunity for an experienced and talented HR Business Partner to join Wales’s only FTSE 100 company to actively contribute to the continuing success of Admiral Group Plc.  

Collaborating with the wider People team (Recruitment, Reward, L&D, D&I and Health & Wellbeing), Admiral’s Business Partners play a central role in creating and implementing the people strategy and help business leaders achieve their objectives through creative and inclusive people-based solutions.

An integral part of their business area’s leadership team, the Business Partner will also be connected to colleagues throughout the organisation.  Managing a team of 7 People Services Executives, the Business Partner will provide generalist HR and employee relations advice and support. The Business Partner will work closely with Admiral colleagues, championing our culture and taking an active role in addressing operational issues, whilst making a proactive contribution in shaping the strategic direction of the business.   

The Business Partner will proactively support the business and our leaders, in helping to manage their teams through the employee lifecycle; they will look at resource needs, talent management, planning succession, capability gaps, performance management and more. They will have the ability to bring together cross functional teams, providing insight to drive and deliver business decisions.

They will be enablers; empowering our leaders and their teams to make the right decisions which support our business objectives and purpose, whilst keeping people at the heart of what we do.

We’re looking for someone with previous HR Business Partnering experience at a senior level. You will be great at:

  • Leading, developing and motivating a team of 7 People Services Executives ensuring they are well informed while providing high levels of support
  • Collaborating and engaging with the business to understand and support their needs, objectives and strategies  
  • Collaborating with the Learning and Development team to build talent and succession planning and assist in the identification of any skills shortfalls within their business area. 
  • Actively challenge the norm within the business areas and within People Services to bring about beneficial change
  • Analysing and interpreting management information; identifying both positive and concerning patterns / trends and feedback to the Operations Delivery team with suggestions for improvement
  • Using early intervention mediation techniques to prevent or minimise employee relations issues escalating
  • Manage complex appeals and grievances to completion, providing feedback and recommendations to all relevant parties to improve future employee relations

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous HR experience working at a senior level
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the business and its strategy, with the ability to add value through a people lens
  • Proven ability to develop and effectively manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent people management skills, including coaching and developing others
  • Ability to interpret data within business context and use HR knowledge to propose solutions
  • Strong emotional intelligence
  • Open minded and pro-active to change and self-development
  • A desire to collaborate and cultivate relationships across teams
  • HR qualification (CIPD Level 7) an advantage but not essential

Additional Information

Due to COVID, our department is working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, once it is safe to return to the office, we will have days when the whole team comes together to collaborate.

We expect that you will be able to decide to come to the office between 2-5 days per week and will aim to be as flexible as we can. If you would like to discuss flexible working, please contact the Recruitment Officer looking after this position.
