"We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Product Manager to play a key role in shaping our future home insurance products. You will lead propositions and develop the route to market, encompassing new digital technologies.
About the Household Product Team
The Household Product Team is a collection of Product Managers and Product Executives who take ownership of the Household suite of products that Admiral offers. As a team, we are involved in both the day-to-day running of the products and their continued development. In addition, we also investigate and create new opportunities within the Home Insurance and related markets.
This is an exciting time to join the team as new technologies, regulatory changes, and the increasing move to online are leading us to re-examine our current product offering. There are some significant projects underway and you will play a lead role in driving these forward.
The role
You’ll define and execute the new products strategy for our home insurance products and take responsibility for delivering it.
You will ensure that your propositions meet our customers’ demands and needs, ensuring they offer customer value whilst also achieving business objectives. You’ll achieve this through working with many different departments across the business, and external partners.
The role will involve managing a small team who will support your product delivery. You will be expected to develop and support the team so that in turn they can take ownership of their own product.
Main Duties
- Define and deliver the new products strategy
- Identify new products to enhance and enrich our current product suite
- Work closely with other areas (e.g. Finance) to create robust financial models to backup your proposals
- Play a major role in developing and enhancing the digital journey for our customers
- Become a product expert, understanding how product features benefit our customers
- Fully understand market trends and key developments. Identify opportunities and future innovation and scope out areas of investigation to add to the product roadmap.
- Ensure the household products remain an attractive proposition, through understanding what customers really want; using customer research, market research and data analysis to help guide your decision making.
- Monitor management information from across the business, to understand how the product is performing, and take action to drive product improvements.
- Research, review and present information to support recommendations and provide updates in a suitable format (e.g. slide packs, formal papers, presentations) to both internal and external stakeholders, including senior management and partners.
- Ensure the product is meeting its KPIs
- Represent the Household Team throughout the wider business and work closely with Operations, Digital, Marketing, Compliance and others, to meet goals
- Create good relationships and build a strong network across the key business functions
- Manage a small team
Skills/ About the candidate
- Ability to approach problems with creativity
- Motivated by understanding customers’ problems and developing ideas and solutions based on this insight.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – ability to write clear and concise papers and reports suitable for a varied audience. The role also requires peer reviews of papers and giving constructive feedback
- Positive, excellent team player and has a drive to work closely with others to deliver results
- Data driven and analytical - comfortable analysing and interpreting data to identify trends, suggest changes and make clear decisions. Use your skills to create a financial model to support your proposals
- Ability to remain focused on delivery while managing multiple tasks and stakeholders
- Self-motivated and eager to take on new challenges
- Confident communicating with, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders who may have different viewpoints, whilst building close working relationships.
- Demonstrate ability to lead a small team
Experience
- Product management experience within the insurance or financial sector
- Experience in developing product propositions
- Experience in developing digital customer and online journeys is desirable
