The role
The Head of Marketing Operations is responsible for running an effective marketing operating framework covering strategic alignment, integrated planning, governance, budgetary responsibility and the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing fulfilment. You will focus on the tactical execution and operations of our below the line activity, including tracking performance to plan, report, and conduct analyses to help identify improvement opportunities.
You will play a key role in assessing and optimizing our marketing processes, systems, and data infrastructure to develop best practices for Admiral Marketing.
Overall Responsibilities as Head of Marketing Operations
- A natural leader, you manage and develop a team of Marketing and Process Improvement experts, enabling them to develop the influence and credibility to deliver
- Managing a multimillion pound budget and driving out cost inefficiencies
- You facilitate the development and implementation of core marketing processes, capabilities, and systems to enable efficient and effective delivery of these plans.
- The management of day-to-day below the line campaign activities, data acquisition, reporting / campaign tracking and process flow of our marketing activity
- Comprehensively understand business objectives and cross-functional team goals and translate these in to optimised processes for campaign planning, data segmentation and performance measurement
- Ownership of the marketing database, and help shape and develop the management strategy that ensures data integrity, support our ambitions around segmentation, ensures strong alignment to our legal governance; partner with central data and tech teams to ensure data adequacy
- Enable high quality and timely output from the overall Marketing team: provide advice and be an escalation point for any issues or risks to the successful delivery of the Marketing Operations lifecycle
- Creates and maintains dashboards and campaign metrics to demonstrate performance against business objectives and growth targets, partners with team members on ad hoc reports
- Evaluates the marketing tech stack to assess requirements and build business cases to add new technology as needed
Key Duties and Responsibilities as Head of Marketing Operations
- Work with brand and customer teams to ensure strong alignment
- Plan and prioritise workload for self and wider team: when necessary, provide hands on support to ensure reporting and updates are delivered to the agreed schedule.
- Promote the Marketing Operating calendar across Marketing stakeholders and teams to ensure they are engaged at the appropriate time to provide timely input.
- Gather requirements from Marketers, giving advice on what is best for their campaign and ensuring a deadline has been agreed upon
- Data and insight driven with a strong understanding of marketing KPls and marketing automation technology.
- Work on multiple campaign briefs at the same time, ensuring executional accuracy and stakeholder communication are optimised throughout
- Work with finance partners to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for key planning or review sessions and routines.
- Manage relationships and performance of our relevant third parties
- Management of below the line digital marketing activity
- Facilitating potentially challenging stakeholder discussions and reaching clear agreements/decisions
- Capture data within our marketing processes and translate them into actionable insights for the Head of Marketing
- Clear and concise communicator with the ability to listen effectively and socialise ideas across functions
- Operate with a high attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable marketing operations and digital marketing experience
- At the core of your experiences to date, you will have a strong track record in designing and delivering successful marketing processes and systems to achieve efficiencies and business impact.
- Demonstrated ability to be results-focused and data-driven, with a strong ability to analyse data for ROI, forecasting, program effectiveness, and lead volume & lead conversion trends
- Relaxed and confident managing/supporting/leading a diverse team, and working with Business Partners and Technical Marketing teams to support their contributions, KPIs and growth
- Relevant digital marketing experience
- A proven record of managing high volume workload
- A strong influencer (up to and including CEO level) who can create buy in for their plans
- Proficient in digital marketing channels
- Experience partnering with external agencies and suppliers
- Experience in business process improvement practices; experience/certifications in Agile, Six Sigma, Kaizen a strong plus
- CIM, MBA or other postgrad qualification in relevant area is desirable, but not essential.
