"Job Purpose
Atlas is Admiral’s staff intranet, a suite of websites and tools that facilitate communication and support numerous customer and staff-related business processes.
Working as a key part of the Project Management area on the Atlas intranet team, the Business Analyst acts as the key interface between our users and the technical side of the team. This role will see you working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external, to gather information and translate business requests into working solutions.
The role involves performing detailed requirements analysis, documenting processes, and performing some user acceptance testing. It also requires you to have an analytical way of thinking and to use your business awareness to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users. Projects will range from strategically important and high-value initiatives to smaller, time-critical business or process changes to deliver incremental improvements for the business and our internal customers.
Role Responsibilities
- Act as an interface between business stakeholders, developers, and the Project Management team to translate requirements into the delivery of quality-focused change.
- Support the Project Manager in managing and communicating with business contacts.
- Translate solutions and recommendations into business change requirements, gaining sign-off from appropriate stakeholders.
- Document and communicate the results of meetings and requirements gathering in Jira.
- Influence the prioritisation of change requirements, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, and handling conflict when it arises.
- Assist with testing during and after development to ensure delivery of requirements as agreed with stakeholders.
- Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas, findings, and lessons learned.
- Lead meetings with developers to elucidate requirements.
- Attend and contribute towards the team, technical backlog, and project meetings.
- Identify and effectively manage the occurrence of risks or blockers.
- Create and maintain project documentation.
- Proactively investigate existing systems, processes, and procedures to identify areas of improvement.
- Recognise opportunities to develop new functionality in Atlas based on common needs.
- Proactively seek opportunities to develop and widen the Business Analyst and Project Management skillset.
Key Competencies and Experience
- An effective communicator who can positively influence stakeholders at all levels and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- A self-motivated and organised individual with excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- An individual with high business awareness who is confident in dealing with diverse information at a granular or a high level.
- A flexible and creative problem solver who can create solutions and manage workplace differences.
- Have an interest in, and a basic understanding of, project management techniques.
- Possess a basic understanding of the planning and integration of change within the business.
- Able to reflect on performance, share lessons learned, and make adjustments where necessary.
- A team player who is reliable and supportive of others.
Additional Information
Due to COVID-19, the whole team is working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, once it is safe to return to the office, we will have days when the whole team comes together to collaborate. We expect that the successful candidate will need to be in the office at least one day a week, but will be dependent on the work and needs of the wider team on an ad hoc basis.
Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance
We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We have great benefits to ensure employees have a great work-life balance; it's one of the reasons we're voted no. 1 in the 2019 Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For in the UK. We want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this, so accommodate flexible hours wherever possible.
