He’s Brazilian by birth, but has lived in both America and Australia, giving him a cultural versatility that has influenced his worldview and work. How did you get into service design?
I studied Advertising at university and started my career there. While I enjoyed the creative side of it, I felt it was superficial at times. I wanted the ability to solve problems and improve customer experience from the inside out, so I decided to go into Service Design.
My role at Admiral Pioneer is my first as a Service Designer, and it’s a fantastic place to start. Not only do I work on launching and building new brands, but I also get the chance to build new products from scratch, using all my skills to create great user experiences.
What’s it like to be a service designer at Admiral Pioneer?
Service Design is a varied role, so every day is different. Depending on the product or project, I could be creating screens for an app or working collaboratively with another team on different processes. Currently, I’m focusing on one of our new brands, looking at the customer experience across our digital platforms to ensure they have the best experience possible.
Why did you decide to work at Admiral Pioneer?
The most exciting thing about Admiral Pioneer is that we are building things from scratch and can define our culture ourselves. We’re collaborative and different in what we do and how we do it. There is real autonomy in what you work on, making it a great place to be. The people are great – friendly and open to learning together, creating a fantastic team and working environment.
How would you define Admiral Pioneer’s culture?
We have the independence to chase what we care about, but the Admiral name adds value and resources to support us. Our process is underlined by research, focusing on trends and customer needs. It’s a ‘finger on the pulse’ environment where we constantly innovate and improve while planning for the future, emphasizing experimentation and a test-and-learn approach.
What’s your favourite thing about your role?
Admiral Pioneer has given me a massive capacity to learn. I’m constantly challenged and able to learn more. I love creating a service and seeing customer feedback right away. Admiral Pioneer allows the flexibility to make changes accordingly, making it exciting and fast-paced every day.
Who would enjoy working at Admiral Pioneer?
Someone with a thirst for knowledge and creative flexibility. It’s a talented group of people open to collaboration and a test-and-learn approach. We’re a close-knit team with friendly people who support ideas and relate to each other as people. It’s a welcoming environment to start in.
As you look towards your future in Admiral Pioneer, what are you the most excited about?
I get to touch every step of the process, from basic research to launching and developing a brand, creating new products, and understanding the whole path from idea creation to a self-sustaining company. It’s hugely valuable and satisfying to see customers happy with the products and services I’ve worked hard on.
