What to expect at each stage of our graduate programmes

Our graduate programmes offer graduates the opportunity to experience different areas of our business in 6-8 month rotational placements, with the aim of securing a permanent role in the area that suits them most. With such varied exposure, support through mentoring and a tight-knit graduate community, the programmes are sure to help any aspiring graduate a chance to find the right career for them.

Read about the different experiences at each stage of the graduate programmes below.

Cellan Lloyd: first placement – Diversity and Inclusion

I’m currently in my first placement on the graduate programme in the Diversity and Inclusion team and I’m loving it so far! It’s a really interesting environment to work in and I always feel like what I’m doing is capable of real and lasting change. I joined the graduate programme from the Contact Centre, and I’m hoping that the business knowledge I gain will help me to progress as far as I can at Admiral!

Megan Jones: second placement – Travel Insurance

I'm currently in my second placement in the Product Development team for Travel Insurance, which was a big change to my first placement in Operational Risk at Admiral Money. I feel empowered to explore different options for my career and love that there's no pressure for me to go in a specific direction. I'm always encouraged to voice any interests I have so that I can tailor my workload to compliment the skills I want to work on, and I've been able to challenge myself and try things I've never done before!

Richard Passmore: third placement – Telematics

I've just started my third placement in Telematics, after completing placements in Motor Pricing, and Management Information (MI). I knew I was looking for an analyst role but wasn't sure which department would be the best for me. The graduate programme has allowed me to work in a range of technical teams, each with their own set of specialties, focusing on different parts of the business. I've enjoyed the responsibilities I’ve been given from day one and the personal ownership I've felt on the projects I've worked on. The work in Telematics combines what I enjoyed from my previous placements, so I’d like to continue working here after the graduate programme.

Sara Midha: Final placement – Compare.com

I’m currently on my final placement on the graduate programme working for our US comparison website Compare.com but based in Cardiff and working remotely. After my first two placements, I still wasn’t sure on what to do with my career. However, my third placement as a Product Executive in Compare.com was so great that I decided to stay in this area for my final placement working with a different product. The ability to try a range of placements has helped me find my career path, which will be in product development. The support I’ve had these last two years has been amazing!

Karen Harris: Permanent role – Communications

I recently accepted a permanent role as a Communications Officer as I really enjoyed my third placement in this role. I never really considered a career in communications prior to the graduate programme, but the experience on placement and the exposure I gained was a huge eye opener and I’m really happy to say I’ve found a role that I’m passionate about, and I’m looking forward to continuing my development in this area. My goal when joining the programme was to figure out what I wanted to do in my career, and I’m so glad I’ve done this!

The graduate experience isn’t identical for everyone, but what does stay the same is the exposure and support you receive to help answer that all important question – what career do you want?
