"Admiral is on an exciting journey, maturing Data Governance and Management across all our Data Domains. As part of this, we have been running a continuous improvement Data Risk programme – planned to continue through 2024 and beyond. We are looking for experienced Technical Business Analysts to join our small but focused team to support the delivery of this work programme.
This role will be critical to support data risk reduction activities.
Working in a fast-moving environment, you must be highly motivated and energetic to act as an interface between business stakeholders and the various technical delivery teams.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Ability to understand complex problems and utilise various techniques to determine scope, scale, complexity, impact and effort to define the problem clearly.
- Investigate, analyse and document current business processes.
- Identify key stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand and map information flows within and across the business, including supporting business processes.
- Ability to analyse, consolidate and communicate data risk across technical systems, user access models, data configuration, and internal and external data flows, and provide remediation options, including feasibility assessments and costs.
- Understand the drivers and strategic context for complex business areas and challenges the appropriateness and alignment of decisions taken before and during the execution of change activities to deliver the best results.
- Applies a broad range of qualitative and quantitative techniques to uncover issues within a complex business area, diagnose the underlying causes of those issues and offer a range of options for improvement.
- Actively identify current and potential risks, including enhancing existing risk processes, whilst delivering risk reduction activities.
- Follow agreed standards for the delivery of projects and (technical / business) change.
- Arrange, prepare and facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops, and present findings and actions verbally and in writing.
- Assess and manage stakeholders regarding levels of authority, influence and interest.
- Utilise various formal and information techniques to manage stakeholders, capture and prioritise requirements, manage change, track approvals and support full traceability.
- Use a range of techniques to define the target state and the changes to a localised process, product or system.
- Ensure that correct project documentation is created and maintained and that all documentation is reviewed and approved before going live.
- Able to manage end-user engagement through 1-2-1 interactions, surveys, workshops, and electronic communications across all levels of the organisation.
Knowledge and Experience Required
Strategic and Leadership Experience:
- Familiar with various analysis, modelling and design methods; have a broad current knowledge of IT standards, applications and trends.
- Able to obtain information from business people, partners or suppliers in face-to-face situations and to analyse information on users' occupational tasks obtained by various formal and informal means.
- Have an analytical and creative approach to problem-solving.
- Have above-average interpersonal skills and confidence in dealing with clients/users.
- Familiar with the software engineering life-cycle for development and the concepts and practices required to implement effective information systems.
- Can communicate a complex problem clearly and concisely without losing essential details.
Behavioural Competencies:
- Properly understand a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its components and identifying the relationships between them.
- Have an understanding and insights regarding the underlying issues in complex problems or situations through the development of abstract representations, the identification of patterns and the analysis of hypotheses.
- Understand the commercial considerations and ensure alignment with them when making decisions or recommending actions.
- Be proactive, anticipating opportunities for systems, service or product improvement or development and taking appropriate action(s).
- Establish relationships, contribute to open culture and maintain contact with people from various backgrounds and disciplines.
Technical and Role Based Skills:
- An understanding of Data Security regulatory requirements (Data Protection Act, GDPR) and the 'least privilege' principle.
- Experience with tools (manual or automated) to record and communicate the structure, relationships and use of information within an organisation.
- Methods and techniques for preparing and presenting business cases, requests for proposal (RFP), invitations to tender (ITT) and statements of requirements/work both verbally and in writing.
- Applies principles, methods and techniques for establishing, documenting, and maintaining standards.
- Understand methods, practices, tools and techniques, underpinned by the Agile Manifesto, that enable teams to deliver high-value products and services in small, workable increments through ceremonies, Stand-Ups, Sprints and Retrospectives, and the deployment of tools and techniques such as backlogs and refinement.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with strong analytical skills utilising Microsoft Excel and awareness of database structures and query languages.
- Aware of IT data/access services, including Active Directory, data storage (database, file-systems), data transfer, and user management processes.
