About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Admiral Pioneer Studio. As the Technical Architect within Studio, you will be responsible for working with the technical teams and stakeholders across multiple Pioneer businesses to assist in driving forward business objectives whilst instilling technical best practice.

Strategy : Reporting to the CTO of Admiral Pioneer and working closely with the stakeholders within the Pioneer businesses, you will work to define and embed Pioneer technology and technical best practices within their technical teams.

You will define and adopt pragmatic principles, standards, and best practice design patterns for technology solutions to drive efficiency, flexibility, and growth.

Mentoring & Partnership : You will serve as a technical subject matter expert to business partners, understanding key business objectives and providing technology solutions options while ensuring compliance and adherence to promoted standards and strategic architecture blueprints.

About you

At work you will be comfortable generating alignment with business stakeholders using non-technical language.

You will have strong yet balanced views on the best technical approach to take to meet the businesses objectives.

You will want to build the best customer experience using both an internal tech team as well as external suppliers and will be versatile and adaptive to changing business and customer needs.

A natural problem solver, you will bring a creative approach to our collaborative environment.

Knowledge and abilities

  • Have a track record of designing and building large-scale, cloud-based, highly available software platforms.
  • Understand the power of contract first development and approach challenges using an API first mindset.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to design complex systems in an iterative and evolutionary manner.
  • Are passionate about enabling other developers through your leadership and driving teams to efficient decisions.
  • Comfortable in getting your hands dirty as the need arises.
  • Passionate about application of technology for building impactful solutions
  • Have the ability to balance long-term objectives with urgent short-term needs
  • Have a Bachelor's degree in a computer science or relevant experience

Experience

  • A seasoned Technical Architect with deep knowledge of AWS
  • Engineering background with competency in Java, Python and associated technologies
  • Strong RDS and NoSQL datasource design
  • Desirable – Snowflake experience
  • Experience with serverless and microservice based architectures
  • Strong knowledge of best practice design and integration patterns (Microservices, API, Event Driven Architectures, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience of developing partner integrated (API) business solutions

Additional Information

Due to Covid the whole Admiral Pioneer team is working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. 
We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, after it's safe to return to the office, we have days when the whole team comes together. You can choose how many days you can be in the office as long as we see your face from time to time.
