About The Role

We are recruiting for a Case Handler in our Claimant Personal Injury department. This is a fast-paced environment. You will be representing our clients who have suffered injury and/or financial losses as a result of a road traffic accident. This will have been a worrying time for many of our clients and the role requires you to support them through this process, advising them on the steps involved in bringing a claim against the responsible party, in order to secure damages and ensuring that their case is prepared in a timely and effective manner whilst ensuring a high level of client care throughout.

Telephone contact with our clients is an important aspect of the role, you will be discussing the position of their case with them, answering any questions they may have and providing advice on the various aspects of the case and evidencing the losses they have sustained. This will include obtaining medical evidence to detail the injuries the client has sustained, providing advice on the damages to which the client is entitled in conjunction with the evidence as well as helping them to identify and document any additional financial losses that may have been incurred as a result of the accident.

Where responsibility for the accident has not been admitted, you will also be required to investigate the accident circumstances and collate all of the relevant evidence to establish fault for the accident.

You will have a caseload for which you have primary responsibility, with supervision by your Team Manager who you will report in to. We set out service level agreements which our clients can expect us to adhere to in responding to their calls, emails, portal messages or post, ensuring the client feels supported and updated throughout their case. The role requires time management skills, a willingness to learn, good organisational skills, a genuine passion to deliver the best level of service for our clients and the ability to develop good working relationships with our clients, your team and the rest of the business. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ability to prioritise and manage a full case load.
  • Proactively reviewing accident circumstances and any relevant case law.
  • Assessing and investigating liability.
  • Reviewing Medical Reports & valuing injury claims.
  • Reviewing financial losses.
  • Drafting Court Documents.
  • Advising clients in respect of liability and quantum.
  • Considering prospects and taking a pragmatic approach to settlements.
  • Prioritising and managing a to do list.
  • Great telephone manner.
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to make decisions.
  • A strong team ethos and willingness to engage.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good initiative and ability to meet deadlines.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience of handling claims of this nature is helpful but not essential.
  • You must have a genuine interest in law and be willing to learn new skills and approaches to tasks.
  • Numeracy, literacy and IT skills are vital, and you will need to be a great communicator
  • Whilst you will be supported in your role, you will need to be able to manage your time effectively, ensuring adherence with service level agreements and deadlines.
  • Being able to prioritise your work in what can be a busy environment will be essential.
  • A large part of the role is solving problems and so the ability to weigh up various approaches and then action the appropriate solution will be essential.
  • An eagerness to “get stuck in”, whilst you maintain strong attention to detail will serve you well.
  • You should be as enthusiastic about delivering great service as we are. The desire to perform to the best of your abilities will be indispensable when you join the team here at Admiral Law.
