Test Automation Engineer

The Admiral Group is a multinational financial services provider, where data and technology are key to our success. We have an opportunity for an experienced Test Automation Engineer to develop and manage test automation frameworks for a variety of applications within our Data and Analytics tribe.

You will work within the Data and Analytics tribe comprised of Developers, Engineers, Analysts and Data Scientists whose primary focus is to design and develop innovative technology solutions for a variety of internal stakeholders.

Location: we are considering remote working (UK only)

About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual, who can think creatively to solve problems and meet user requirements. You must have a keen interest in testing with hands on experience of automating testing, designing and implementing testing automation frameworks.

As we work within the Scaled Agile framework, we are looking for someone who can work both independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced and changing environment. This requires an individual who can deliver to agreed timelines, communicating effectively, and thinking innovatively.

Responsibilities

As part of a multi-discipline team challenged building a cloud data platform, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the services and applications we are developing. This will include:

• Defining tools and frameworks to develop and maintain test automation
• Identification of test automation opportunities
• Work closely with the development team to define strategy and best practices
• Looking for opportunities to “Shift left” of testing and test automation
• Providing clear and accurate documentation for the tests and test automation
• Contributing towards the continuous improvement of testing and test automation practices
• Integrating automated tests with the CI/CD pipeline
• You will also be expected to keep your skills up to date by following advancements in testing and test automation.

Skills and Experience

• Experience of building complex test automation framework from scratch using Java or Python
• Strong experience in Selenium and BDD with Cucumber or similar framework
• Automated API testing experience with Postman or similar tooling
• Experience with non-functional testing with JMeter or similar
• Experience of working in agile environment
• Experience stubbing and creating automation for microservice architecture at distributed scale
• Working knowledge of JIRA, and git
• Real passion for clean code, automation testing and continuous delivery

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience of integrating automated testing into a CI/CD pipeline – especially any experience with Azure DevOps or Jenkins
• Experience with automating tests within Cloud Platform
• An enthusiastic mentor for team to adopt automation as a definition of done
• Leading test automation strategy and mentoring testers on the automation testing process
• Experience with Data Analytics, Big Data or similar
• Experience of software development
