Sustainability Regulation and Reporting Lead

Do you have a passion for sustainability with a strong mix of both analytical and communication skills? If so, you might be the ideal candidate for our expanding Group Sustainability Team! We are seeking a driven and positive person to join us in this exciting and innovative field.

As a Sustainability Regulation and Reporting Lead, you will play a crucial role in supporting delivery of our sustainability agenda and goals across the Admiral Group, with a focus on sustainability regulation and reporting such as the sustainability section of our Annual Report and standalone Sustainability Report.

In this brand-new role, you will be responsible for creating and delivering Admiral’s sustainability reporting strategy, and developing and innovating our reports, both in terms of automation and value-add content. By building compelling and engaging sustainability reports, this will also help to improve our messaging around sustainability, increasing awareness and knowledge amongst all our stakeholders. This requires continuous scanning of the external regulatory and reporting landscape, engagement with external industry bodies and groups, and ensuring alignment with relevant sustainability and ESG regulation and disclosure standards.

You will also require project management and coordination skills to ensure effective and timely delivery of regulatory change and disclosure reporting, including the correct level of governance and oversight, from key business stakeholders to the relevant Boards and Committees. This requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

The role will provide exposure to a wide variety of internal stakeholders, who contribute to our sustainability reporting, and external parties who are also involved. This will include senior stakeholders within the business as well as investor relations, finance, risk, legal, and company secretarial, Deloitte (as our auditors) and our publishing agency.

Main Responsibilities

  • You will carry out sustainability regulatory horizon scanning to identify emerging regulatory and reporting requirements, communicating with relevant stakeholders and providing recommendations for action where necessary.
  • You will play both a strategic and tactical role in driving forward our sustainability reporting activities, leading on the collation, production and publication of disclosures, and ensuring relevant feedback and approvals prior to publication. This will involve close collaboration with other departments and stakeholders across the Group.
  • External reporting includes project management and coordination of our annual reporting contribution; standalone sustainability report; and upcoming CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) report and sustainability-related IFRS disclosures.
  • Internal reporting includes contribution to the management of sustainability departmental management information (MI) and dashboards on sustainability performance across the Group, along with any required Board & Committee reports and status update reports on any regulatory change projects.
  • You will establish efficient processes and controls for data collection, measurement and reporting of our sustainability position, practices and initiatives.
  • You will support with implementation of new software to collect and maintain sustainability-related data and you will be responsible for ownership of data relationships and input.
  • You will support the wider team in identifying, analysing and reporting on sustainability performance throughout the business, to identify trends, risks and opportunities, providing recommendations for improvement where necessary.
  • You will support the wider team with innovative problem-solving and thought leadership, to help influence and inspire change.
  • You will also play a key role in the sustainability governance structure, to create a robust oversight and delivery process.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of the regulatory and legislative landscape, including a working knowledge of current sustainability reporting and disclosures.
  • Analytical thinking, strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Successful at managing and delivering reports, in a creative and innovative way that translates data into reporting and effective storytelling.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate and influence at all levels, internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Clear, precise verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, organised and proactive.
  • A passion for sustainability and ESG, and a commitment to making a positive difference.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, reacting and adapting quickly to change across multiple territories.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills, balancing project and ad-hoc work with regular responsibilities.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in governance / compliance / regulatory work.

You will be required to attend the Cardiff office at least once a week
