We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive individual to join one of the fastest growing parts of Admiral Group as a Senior Product Manager.

About Admiral Money

Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.

The Role

The successful person will initially be part of a small core product team but will need to be an inspiring individual, capable of supporting the Product Director in building a strong team to deliver the overall product strategy and growth required for this area.

Working in close collaboration with other Admiral Money & Group departments is of equal importance as you lead the product strategy across a matrix structure, which encompasses a dedicated resource model to support these products across areas such as Pricing, Credit Risk & Data and on a shared services basis for customer facing areas such as Operations, Digital, Underwriting, Collections etc. This model ensures best practice is shared across all functions whilst maintaining and autonomous model which can drive this product forward at the pace needed.

The right person will be a leader, customer centric, commercially astute, externally focussed and analytically minded. In addition to overall P&L support they will drive change for their product across product development, change execution (Squad/Domain delivery), Data, Digital, Pricing, Marketing, Underwriting and Operations ensuring great customer service and desired commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership, People & Relationships

  • Strategic planning combined with strong stakeholder management skills to influence and challenge senior stakeholders across the UK business.
  • In collaboration with the digital & operations teams, develop bespoke customer journeys and product features to enhance customer experience of Admiral Money
  • Maintain relationships with departments and designated project stakeholders across the wider Group, building cross-departmental understanding & collaboration to ensure deliverable plans and upward reporting of any issues
  • Support the Product Director in ensuring the team are appropriately supported, trained and developed, including conducting regular one-to-ones

Building the Business & Use of Data

  • Play a key support role in the overall product function for loans; shaping and delivering the vision and strategy for the vertical
  • Maintain development of the ongoing product road map, including identifying relevant ancillaries to add value and meet customer need
  • Maximise existing distribution channels and diversify volumes to reduce reliance on current partners
  • Design & deliver relevant campaigns to our key customer segments to drive awareness and value – support the Product Director with the end-to-end value chain to reduce waste/costs and increase income per customer
  • Monitor and develop management information and other sources of feedback to ensure continuous improvement
  • Develop data-driven business case assessments to test hypotheses quickly and ensure we are optimising our change investment to deliver maximum value.

Commercial Focus & Financials

  • Strong Knowledge of P&L performance – understand key levers through increasing sales/trading, balances and retention, with loss performance and expense ratio performance.
  • Responsible for customer engagement, satisfaction and focus on delivering positive customer outcomes from the product/proposition
  • Evaluate the productivity of all related revenue generating activity across the customer life-cycle, balancing short term target delivery and long term strategic vision.
  • Supports annual budget setting, monthly reporting against budget and overall prudent budget control and ensure alignment with the Product Direct, who has overall responsibility

Risk Management

  • Collaborate with pricing/credit risk for customer rating and customer experience to ensure maximum footprint and competitiveness whilst sourcing new data sources to enhance the customer experience and differentiate our rating from competitors
  • Demonstrate expertise in the wider regulatory and competitive environments. Work with the Product Director to oversee the completion of all externally required information, including compliance information
  • Ensure that all risk events are reported, and that risks are appropriately identified and managed

Essential Skills:

  • A proven track record for leading, mentoring and motivating a high-performance team to deliver great business results with an ability to both build and execute on a strategy successfully.
  • Drive the use of analytics to develop deep insights into the product and customer, ensuring key decisions are data driven and turning insights into actionable recommendations and execution.
  • Leading fast paced delivering teams; expert stakeholder management (both internal and external) and cross functional communication
  • A proactive and positive mindset orientated towards continuous improvement and test and learn; embracing new ideas
  • Strong digital awareness – assess and develop digitisation opportunities to determine where they could be cost effectively utilised to improve performance, customer service and/or reduce costs.
  • Awareness of project management and risk and control mechanisms
  • Budgeting and Financial planning
  • Develop a culture of audit, quality control and compliance and with advice sought from the Head of Compliance, ensuring that all aspects of the department comply with regulations

Desirables:

  • Experience at a senior level within a cross-functional or fast-growing business area
  • Experience managing complex projects or programmes
  • Experience managing external relationships, including some contract negotiation
  • Proven successful track record of managing, mentoring and coaching
  • Previous involvement in strategy or product development
  • Strong technology awareness at a sector level
