An exciting opportunity has arisen in IT for someone to join our busy and growing IT Risk & Compliance Team (ITRAC).

The team’s function is to facilitate informed decision making across IT through the proactive management of risk and compliance and the development of a 'Real-Time' risk and compliance culture.

The IT Risk Analyst will report directly to the IT Risk & Compliance Manager.

Job Purpose

To facilitate the identification of Operational and Technical risk within a dynamic and fast paced IT department, perform analysis and make assessments that will provide options and recommendations regarding the treatment of risk.  To be a role model for Risk & Compliance management principles within IT, driving mitigation and the reduction of risk exposure.

Main Duties

  • Work closely with systems, data, product and process owners to help identify and document potential or emerging risk
  • Perform reviews on key risks across IT and propose risk treatment options
  • Pursue and promote risk mitigation actions
  • Perform Risk & Control Assessments (RCA’s) within IT
  • Help maintain IT Risk Registers and reports
  • Support the Risk Event process, providing updates to Group Risk as required
  • Provide and deliver Risk awareness training when required
  • Analyse and interpret data from Key Risk Indicators (KRI’s) and develop additional KRI’s where appropriate
  • Support Continual Improvement activities within the ITRAC team
  • Provide support to strategic programmes, projects and initiatives
  • Escalate risk where and when appropriate
  • Work closely with other functions on risk matters e.g. Group Risk, InfoSec, Procurement etc
  • Provide cover for other team members as required

Experience and Qualifications Required


  • Experience in managing operational risk within IT
  • Previous experience of performing risk analysis within a technical environment
  • Previous experience of performing risk & control assessments within a technical environment
  • Good understanding of IT services, systems and networks
  • Good understanding of risk management
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills
  • Able to work in a fast paced, and changing environment
  • Well organised
  • High attention to detail


  • Awareness of regulatory requirements within the Financial Services industry
  • Formal training in risk, audit and compliance disciplines
  • Experience of working with Jira and Confluence
  • Foundation Level training in ITIL
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and frameworks e.g. ISO 27001
