It’s an exciting time in the world of Car Pricing at Admiral! Following a re-structure, Car Pricing is being more formally divided into two areas: Risk Pricing and Retail Pricing, creating the new role of Head of Car Retail Pricing.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to build a new team in a critical area of the business and drive the agenda to increase the sophistication of our retail pricing. Within this role you would be responsible for all the pricing analysis work that sits outside the traditional task of assessing claims risk. You will be exposed to a variety of work ranging from highly complex numerical analysis to high-level decision making that affects the strategy and direction, both of Pricing, but also the wider business.

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, who can demonstrate leadership qualities that will drive forward our efforts across retail pricing, ensuring that our pricing capability remains a source of competitive advantage to us, whilst also having the interpersonal skills required to build a strong team around them.

You must be highly numerate and have a passion for tackling complex problems relating to financial modelling and interpreting the results of various analytical tests and processes. You should be comfortable with getting stuck-in and diving into the detail of the analysis work, whilst also being able to support your team in fulfilling their potential.

*We are specifically looking for someone who has extensive experience in pricing within a UK general insurance company*

Main Duties

  • Manage a team of analysts responsible for all pricing decision-making that goes beyond the prediction of claims risk. This includes managing an existing Car Renewal Pricing Team and building a new team that focusses on New Business Retail Pricing
  • Propose and share base rate decisions with senior management within and outside of Pricing
  • Ensure that we are making optimal use of external data sources available to us in relation to market prices e.g. price comparison insight data for real-time pricing
  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues, both within the department as well as the wider business, to ensure successful delivery of projects that involve cross-departmental cooperation and collaboration
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of our analytical tools, platforms and software to enable you to effectively drive forward the implementation of retail pricing initiatives
  • Take responsibility for the quality of all complex analytical work carried out within the function including analysis on projects such as lifetime value, price elasticity, etc
  • Take responsibility for all risk and regulatory matters affecting Pricing
  • Assist and collaborate on a range of strategic projects that have the potential to change the way Car Pricing operates in the future
  • Own the Car Pricing relationship with other areas of the business such as Marketing, Price Comparison, Risk, etc
  • Take responsibility for the recruitment, performance management, development and engagement of all staff within the new Car Retail Pricing function
  • Set standards for training and ensuring that the function is sufficiently skilled in order to meet our requirements, both now and in the future
  • Maintain an outward looking perspective and act internally as a valuable source of outside information, sharing your expertise and ensuring that Admiral remains up to date with changes in the field of Pricing
