The Complex Team are recruiting for roles within Admiral Law.

About the role:

You will be allocated a modest caseload of pre-litigation cases which will have originated, primarily, from our MOJ and Triage team in NCU. Also, cases can be referred to the team from other departments in appropriate circumstances.

You will act at all times in the best interests of your client, exploring every aspect of your client's injuries and losses and either negotiating suitable settlement with your opponents, or developing the claim for litigation within the department Litigation Team, or to transfer to the Serious Injuries Team once the value has been appropriately advanced. Your caseload will comprise a mixture of admitted and denied liability cases with the potential to be of significant value. It is your role to identify and promote the right level of expert report and associated losses to ensure that your clients are properly compensated for their injuries.

You will be based in our Capital Quarter building in Cardiff, working core hours of 39.5 per week. We want you to develop as part of the Serious Injuries department, within which the Complex teams sit, and as such it is anticipated that you will accompany colleagues to conferences with clients and counsel, as well as attending court hearings to build your experience and knowledge bank. Shadowing of your team and department colleagues will be an essential part of your role. Internal training and, on occasion, external training will be provided. Should you have to travel for such training or court/conference attendances, reasonable travel expenses and applicable overnight stays will, of course, be reimbursed to you.

In addition to your case handling the role, you will be expected to mentor handlers in the Pre-Litigation teams in MOJ and Fast Track as well as NCU, assisting them referral queries as well as mentoring and workshop/training situations. You will be provided with an achievable target. Additionally, you will be expected to play your part in any marketing events, both internal and external.

About the Complex department:

The Complex teams were created in August 2016, comprising for the last 2 years of a dedicated team of handlers predominantly handling the more complicated, interesting claims.

These are usually unique injuries, specialist losses or a need for multiple medical experts. Claims are issued Part 7 or transferred from Part 8 to ensure they are run effectively and efficiently towards settlement. These cases often advance towards a trial where we have a very good success rate. The team plays a valuable role in developing complex claims for the SIT team, who form part of our close-knit department, having nurtured the claims to a Multi-Track value.

As Admiral Law has grown, the number of cases referred to the team has risen. Inevitably, the growing focus on the many complex claims in the business has led to the evolution of a stand-alone department, and the introduction of a new team of Complex Litigators, for whom we are separately recruiting, as well as the growing Pre-Lit Complex team, the focus of this advertisement.

About you:

You need to be able to demonstrate knowledge of bodily injury claims with a history of capable and intuitive handling, this is essential for the role, without this experience we will not proceed with your application. The ability to see the possibility of your clients’ claim, whilst managing expectations sensibly is an absolute given.

A hunger to learn and develop your ability is a prerequisite as is a commitment to shared learning, teamwork, and constructive communication. We want the right people and team players for these roles.

At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We understand that a good work life balance is important, and we want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this. We are happy to talk about flexible working. Please ask your Recruitment Officer- Lee Moore, for more information.
