Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to take ownership and lead in the design, delivery and ongoing maintenance of technology environments that meets and/or exceeds requirements as part of an exciting and critical programme of work.

Main Duties

To work with IT Delivery and Support teams to ensure new products and technologies are integrated/configured/optimised in line with IT architectural principles, policies and best practice relating to new and existing environments within the Admiral technology estate. You will be working with all roles within IT to ensure this occurs in a controlled and timely manner.

In addition to this you will also proactively manage and address any risk issues relating to your assigned duties. You will be expected to complete your duties whilst conforming to any project timelines or service level agreements that are in place.

Other duties include:

  • Design, configure and maintain enterprise technology environments
  • Recommending & enforcing coding standards for best practise
  • Provide timely and accurate estimates for assigned tasks
  • Research new technologies and function as a subject matter expert
  • Diligently share knowledge with others through teaching and/or mentoring
  • Act as a point of technical referral or provide 3rd Line Technical Support, where appropriate
  • Maintain a good working relationship with customers and technical partners including Project teams
  • Produce or contribute to detailed documentation for existing or new configurations
  • Provide project briefings for management

Experience Required


  • Platforms e.g. x86-64, Windows, Linux (Redhat, CentOS), AIX, VMWare, OS security
  • Informatica, SAS, Microstrategy, GIT, Erwin, Visio
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum
  • Familiarity with a support environment
  • Experience of Confluence & JIRA
  • Practical experience using Teradata
  • Indexing strategy


  • SQL experience
  • Professional experience working on a high-volume enterprise data warehouse
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and Business Intelligence concepts such as slowly changing dimensions and ETL
  • Able to work with structured frameworks, methodologies and best practices
  • An ability to learn from, and adapt to, a changing technical environment
  • Demonstrable analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Significant and proven creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Technical competence and aptitude to learn new things quickly to progress to Teradata Database Certified Associate (Certification). Allowing the candidate to understand core concepts of the Teradata Database and the value Teradata provides users.
  • Excellent organisational skills
