About the role:

The Specialist Liability Claims department, in Admiral Law, seeks a full-time case handler to handle a variety of claims with a value between £1,000 and £25,000.  The team undertakes a variety of personal injury claims including claims arising from employment, public liability, product liability and disease. 

We focus on delivering a high standard of care to our client’s, ensuring they obtain a fair outcome in their claim. The role involves dealing with personal injury claims from a variety of sources, including accidents at work; accidents caused by unsafe premises, defective equipment or products; road traffic accidents claims and industrial disease. Where the opponent accepts they will need to pay compensation, you will be involved in obtaining evidence in support of the injuries suffered by the client to recover their financial losses.  You will also be dealing with cases where the opponent disputes responsibility for the client’s injuries, which will involve further investigation.  In due course, handlers can expect to carry out litigation.

One claim is never the same; the role offers a variety of matters that will engage your mind in problem solving, creativity and devising a set of best outcomes for the client. It goes without saying that an integral part of the role is giving correct legal advice to our clients, and this is and always will be at the forefront of any Fast Track Handler’s role.  You’ll be expected to deliver an exceptional level of service.

In a typical week a Fast Track Case Handler will:

  • Speak to clients to obtain the facts giving rise to their claim and to assess the impact of their injuries
  • Consider the relevant law in order to present the claim to the opponent
  • Where the opponent disputes responsibility, identify material evidence to establish fault on the part of the opponent, in order to assess the strengths of the client’s claim and advise the client
  • Liaise with medico legal agencies in order to instruct appropriate medical experts
  • Assess medical evidence and evidence in support of financial losses, in order advise the client in relation to the value of their claim
  • Draft legal documents to support the client’s claim
  • Negotiate with the opponent’s insurer to obtain the best result for our clients
  • Prepare papers for court and instruct advocates to attend where the client is a child and court approval is needed
  • Be responsible for your own clients and caseload
  • Keep your work within company SLA’s and ensure you are working towards achieving our company’s KPI’s
  • Fast Track Case Handlers work Monday to Friday, either 8am – 5pm or 9am – 6pm, whilst accruing flexi time to use at your disposal.

You will have knowledge of civil law, and personal injury case handling experience desirable but not essential.  Candidates with experience of conducting their own litigation are also welcome to apply.  Both induction and ongoing training will be provided to the successful candidates.
