It’s an exciting time for Admiral as we continue to grow our home insurance business.  As a result, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Technical Claims to join the team.

Reporting to the Head of Household Claims, the Head of Technical Claims will work collaboratively to refine and implement a best in class claims strategy.  This will involve leading and developing the existing technical claims teams and driving improvement in supplier performance.  The role will also be responsible for driving technical excellence across the whole of the Household Claims department.

The key responsibilities of the Head of Technical Claims include:

  • Shaping the strategy for performance of all technical and large claims
  • Being responsible for the selection, engagement and performance of suppliers
  • Owning and developing technical strategies to reduce claims indemnity spend
  • Executing a strategy for delivering straight-forward and quality claims service to customers
  • Being responsible for the recruitment, performance management, development and engagement of all staff within Technical teams.  Ensuring succession plans are developed and implemented and that the department can support growth
  • Own technical development of all colleagues in the Household Claims operation
  • Collaborating effectively with internal stake holders including other members of the Claims department, Pricing and Underwriting

The successful candidate will:

  • Have extensive market knowledge to perform the role
  • Ideally be educated to a Degree level
  • Hold a professional qualification within a Building Surveying/Management or equivalent
  • Have a strong understanding of the principles of insurance
  • Have a detailed understanding of building repairs and a broad understanding of associated Health and Safety and regulatory requirements
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the home insurance claims market and how it operates and have a track record of using this knowledge to drive efficiencies
  • Have an in-depth technical knowledge and the creativity to generate ideas
  • Have significant experience of leading claims managers and claims teams in a high-volume technical claims environment
  • Contribute to the development of the technical claims strategy and drive best practise
  • Be highly credible with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with both members of the team and senior stakeholders across the business
  • Have experience of instigating and leading change
  • Have good levels of numeracy and analysis
  • Be a great organiser and use initiative
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
