This role utilises the latest cutting-edge technologies in Azure as well as traditional SQL, SSIS and data modelling. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team with a varied workload liaising with stakeholders from all areas of the business as well as the wider development and testing teams.  You’ll help to provide innovative solutions, identify opportunities for efficiency and implement change through automation and continuous delivery.

Your tasks will include:

  • Database queries, providing technical support and expertise
  • Requirements capture and analysis from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Dimensional Modelling and database design
  • Test-driven development (using the software development life-cycle)
  • ETL development using Stored Procedures, SSIS and Azure Data Factories.
  • Utilising Team Foundation Services, continuous delivery through build and release pipelines.
  • Maintaining quality via pair programming, code reviews, best practice, standards etc.
  • Liaising with architects, tech leads and other seniors to drive technical excellence and innovation.
  • Integrating and building positive working relationships within and outside of your immediate team.
  • Keeping up to date with emerging technologies and recognise the potential value they bring to

Preferred technical skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and above.
  • Ability to create and optimise stored procedures.
  • Develop and support SSIS solutions.
  • Knowledge of database design.
  • Knowledge of Dimensional Modelling. 
  • Knowledge of supporting SQL availability groups.
  • Performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server/VSTS.
  • Understanding of how to administer user access and server security.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cloud technologies.


Desired education level:

  • BSc in computer science or related discipline.
  • Qualified in the usage of SQL Server.
