Introduction

We have a brand-new role to fill within our Group Security Department: The Head of Security Architecture and Culture has overall responsibility for the Security Architectural vision and general approach to Security Education and Awareness throughout all our Admiral businesses.

About the team

The Security Architecture and Culture team is undergoing an evolution transforming into a global enterprise ready team. This will need hand a combination of detailed strategy development as well as strategic leadership. The Security culture element of the team is already well established, but by bringing it closer to our architectural strategy we hope to further accelerate our educational and awareness activities.

Job Purpose

The role holder will ensure that Security Architects and the Culture team are prioritising their work based on an up to date risk profile. They will set Security Architectural strategy in line with business requirements, and also own the development of the Security Service catalogue on behalf of the Group CISO in line with known risks and evolving threats

Main Duties

The Head of Security Architecture and Culture will ensure provision of:

  • Overall management of the Architecture team, including demand management of Security Architects and the Culture team.
  • Create the multi-year vision for Security Architectural transformation, including the adoption of a “cloud first” strategy. 
  • Design and Co-ordination of awareness and training programmes with the Culture team.
  • Advisory to the Security Improvement Programme on appropriate strategic direction and content, ensuring that the programme contains a balanced portfolio, prioritised by risk assessment. The Head of Architecture and Culture will agree priorities in collaboration with the Security Risk and Governance team and Programme Lead.
  • Ensure the adequate design of all technical controls managed and operated by the Platforms Operations and Engineering team.
  • Collaborative working relationship with IT Architecture to ensure the Security Architectural strategy directly supports the Business and IT architectural approach.
  • Handover to BAU completed for all technical services before go-live operation.

Experience and Qualifications Required

The Head of Security Architecture and Culture will be a highly experienced Security professional with extensive Consulting and management experience operating at a senior level.

Must have proven experience of influencing Technology strategy at Senior Manager level.

Essential skills

  • Strong Technical grounding
  • Extensive Architectural / Security Architectural experience
  • Thorough understanding of Security Risk with the ability to make pragmatic business focussed decisions
  • Strong focus on governance, and its implementation
  • Technical knowledge of security, with the ability to demonstrate practical application of controls
  • Strong attention to detail, with excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate constructively and confidently and work well with others.

Highly Desirable

  • Cloud Security strategy development experience (GCP/AWS/Azure)
  • Degree in a technical / security discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience of designing and implementing security in an Agile delivery environment
  • CISM or CISSP
  • CRISC
