The Security Architect has the responsibility to understand the changing needs of the IT and business teams and direct the security architecture team to match controls, countermeasures and security strategy to the protection needs of a regulated financial services company.
The Security Architect will see the macro view, direction of travel and complexity of the contemporary IT landscape as an opportunity. They will have the ability to create control roadmaps, generate threat led integrations between security products, and gain a measurable security improvement in each task they are involved with. They will provide solutions that harmonise with IT and create enabling security functions that allow the business to innovate quickly.
The Security Architect will:
The role would suit a technologist who has had an operational role in the past and understands the link between good technical controls and threat mitigation. It would also be suitable to have proven experience in delivering security architecture and controls that sidestep the mistakes often made in the early stages of maturity.
Strong working knowledge of at least one of Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure is highly desirable. In addition, a security technical/computing degree is beneficial.
Good understanding of a recognised architectural framework such as TOGAF / SABSA is not essential but understanding when such frameworks provide value and their limitations is advantageous.
Further to this, you must have experience in developing control frameworks that meet recognised industry standards for large enterprises.
Demonstrable experience in security architecture, and design of end to end architecture lifecycles and patterns, within medium/large corporate organisations is required.
The ability to communicate effectively, constructively, confidently and professionally is key to the success in the role.
Experience of working within a large complex corporate environment, a working knowledge of financial services and the typical business processes involved together with the threat actors and their relevant tactics, techniques and procedures would be of significant advantage.
The candidate should have a broad knowledge of security and a strong technical grounding, security certifications such as CISSP, CISM etc are highly desirable.
