Platform Engineering Lead – Product lab (Full Time Role)


Product Lab is launching Admiral One which creates a marketplace built around the customer to give them control of their financial products & services. We are starting with a ‘Simple & Smart route to Car Ownership’ by bringing together Car Finance, Car Buying and Car Insurance in one simple and convenient location to create a value proposition greater than the sum of its parts.

To make this possible we are combining AI with our innovative Cloud-based Customer Data Platform that enables us to offer car ownership products across multiple channels with personalised cross-sell. This will be in our advertising, on our apps, in messenger/Alexa/Google through our assistant, and in our decisioning. This platform is being designed around the customer and their data rather than a single product vertical, giving us the flexibility to add new products and services (whatever they may be) in the future.


We are looking for a technology evangelist and a seasoned senior engineer to help us build the cloud-based customer data platform. The lead would be experienced in architecting highly scalable, secure and elegant solutions to help us achieve a brand, product or client agnostic platform built around a single customer view. This is very much a hands-on role with limited people management.

  • Develop the customer data platform on the cloud deploying an efficient architecture to support launching multiple products and customer journeys
  • Support full stack development especially within cloud-based systems alongside continuous integration
  • Support delivery team from an architecture perspective and making sure that the systems remains scalable, secure, and available
  • Understand, manage, and lead integrations with different Admiral systems of records around insurance policy, personal and car loans, and car stocks
  • Support, build and integrate into micro-services around these systems
  • Integrate into multiple 3rd party API’s
  • Deep linking into partner businesses as needed
  • Developing the technology roadmap of the department keeping innovations in mind
