Job Purpose

This is a unique opportunity to join the management team of Veygo, a new and ambitious InsureTech venture backed by the Admiral Group.

Veygo has been created in order to provide great insurance and mobility products in a world where people don’t own cars anymore. Our first 2 products - Car Sharing Insurance and Learner Driver Insurance - allow drivers who don’t own a car to be insured whilst they borrow someone else’s car for any duration between 1h and 30 days. We are working to release new products in 2018, and beyond.

As a start-up owned by a FTSE 100 Company, our goal is to get the best of both worlds:

  • We are setup as a separate business with our own Profit & Loss, IT systems built and owned by Veygo and teams that are able to cover all key missions (marketing, IT, customer service, claims handling).
  • We have all the financial backing of Admiral and access to all their great pricing, claims and data experience.

A key part of our team is our Lean culture: it frames how we approach technology and product development (with weekly sprints, small scrum teams, and continuous deployment); it helps us keep our customers at the heart of what we do; it gives everyone confidence that they can make a difference, and help us get a bit better every day.

Veygo is growing fast and we are looking for highly talented individuals to reinforce our management team, reporting directly to the Head of Veygo. We are based in Cardiff, Wales.

The Head of Business Development at Veygo will be in charge of spotting growth opportunities for Veygo and turn them into live products that help customers. This is a brand new role so the successful candidate will be able to shape and define their vision for the role.

Main Duties

As Head of Business Development, you will be in a position to shape Veygo’s growth and strategy in order to create great value for the customer. You will:

  • Review our existing offer to identify what new ventures can serve our customers the best
  • Look at the InsureTech and FinTech markets to identify best practices and possible partners
  • Run market research and create the business case for new ventures
  • Work with other Veygo senior managers to design and release our new ventures
  • Take responsibility of the day to day running of the business
  • Embrace our Lean mindset and be a leader in our Kaizen practices

This is not a full definition of the role but covers the main aspects and drivers for success.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • An existing track record of excellence and an ambition to push yourself higher
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the desire to make a difference
  • Attention to details and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and look “under the hood”
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capacity
  • Be able to build and execute a team or project budget
  • All around business awareness and the ability to tackle any issue (with the help of the rest of the team)
  • Be a team player: be able to see the interest of the customer and support the team above all
  • Experience of, or an interest in working in a Lean environment with a test and learn, MVP mindset
  • Proven ability to interact efficiently with other teams

Desirable:

  • MBA or Master level degree
  • Proven ability to run a team or a project
