Admiral Group is currently recruiting for a graduate actuarial trainee to join an expanding team within our Head Office in Cardiff. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who is looking to start an actuarial career or who has recently embarked upon an actuarial career. The role will be base within our core Actuarial team within Group Finance, but with significant interaction with actuarial colleagues within Financial Risk, there will be opportunities to define your own progression.

The role

As a trainee joining our team you will receive on the job training from subject matter experts that will ensure that you are able to contribute from day one and quickly progress to taking on additional responsibilities. Further formal development opportunities will be provided which will allow you to grow into someone who will help drive and promote actuarial work across the group.

The flat management structure and increasing global reach of Admiral Group means you will soon pick up a diverse range of skills and have contact with senior managers and directors from early on in your career, giving a challenging, but ultimately rewarding environment.

You will join the capital modelling team within Actuarial. From day one, you will be involved in a broad range of projects, working directly with a variety of different teams across the Group. In particular, you will support:

  1. The delivery of economic and regulatory capital requirement calculations, which will involve:
  • understanding the origins and reasonableness of the data used by the model
  • parameterisation of model inputs
  • production of model documentation
  • preparation of reports and presentations for senior management and regulators
  • developing a good understanding of the key financial risks faced by Admiral
  1. The monitoring and maintenance of our requirements specified under Solvency II
