The history of Admiral Group is one of growth, profitability and innovation. Admiral launched in car insurance in 1993 with just one brand, zero customers and 57 members of staff. The Group now offers home, van and travel insurance as well as personal loans and car finance in the UK, and has operations in Spain, Italy, France, the US and Mexico, and has over five million customers worldwide.
Our strategy is simple: To continue to progress in the UK car insurance market whilst taking what we do well to new markets and products: keep doing what we’re doing and do it better year-after-year.
About Home Insurance
Home; it’s where the heart is. We want to help people protect theirs – that’s why we launched Admiral Home Insurance back in December 2012. Since then we have achieved year-on-year growth in revenue, profit and customer numbers. We now insure 700,000 active home insurance customers with plans to continue this rapid growth.
About the Role
In a role that’s crucial to the success of Admiral Home Insurance, you will have P&L responsibilities for Admiral’s Home Insurance ancillary products. These currently include Home Emergency Cover and Family Legal Protection. We would like to continue to grow these products as well as researching new related markets for other opportunities.
You’ll research competitors, markets, and products, identifying opportunities for growth and ensuring that our products are meeting customers’ needs. As this is an expanding business area, it promises autonomy, variety, and the chance to be creative as you shape a profitable, sustainable product portfolio.
We’d like you to optimise our customer journey, our propositions, offerings and how we do things in Admiral Home Insurance. To do this, you’ll need to work closely with other departments – from our Underwriters, making sure our product range is innovative and meeting customers’ needs, to Marketing, ensuring that we’re communicating products in a compelling and compliant manner. It’s a challenge and a huge opportunity.
Finally, you will be managing relationships with third-party suppliers, driving value through these relationships; meeting regularly, reviewing and developing associated management information, negotiating contract and commercial terms.
You’re an excellent Product Manager who really knows their stuff. If you have previous experience of the Household Insurance market, that’d be even better. Credible and commercial in your approach, you’ll have a good understanding of product management and development and an up-to-the-minute awareness of competitors, markets and the customer journey.
Combining expertise with creative flair, you’ll always be looking for innovative new opportunities to penetrate the market, bringing us bold, well thought-out ideas with the impact to drive them through, profitably and successfully.
You’re good with figures too, and you use your analytical ability to carefully assess the potential impact of issues and enable informed decision-making.
As you’ll be collaborating with people across the business and third-party stakeholders, it’s crucial that your communication skills are exceptional, and you feel comfortable liaising with people at all levels. And importantly, you’ll be as excited as we are about this evolving area of the business and ready to thrive on the challenge.
