Admiral staff given early finish to watch Wales in Euro 2016 semi-final

Admiral will be closing our Cardiff, Swansea and Newport offices early on Wednesday July 6 to allow staff to enjoy the Wales v Portugal Euro 2016 semi final.

Staff in our contact centres work shifts, with some due to finish at 10pm.

However, due to the enormity of Wednesday’s game and how Wales’ journey has gripped the company, it was a straightforward decision to close at 7pm.

This will mean more than 600 staff get to leave the office early so they can get ready for kick off.

Anthony Price works in our New Business team and said he and his colleagues would benefit from the early finish as his shift would normally end at 10pm.

Anthony has worked for us for six years and said: "This has lifted the team’s spirit and they are all very grateful.

"This is just another reason why we work for the best company in the U.K."

Admiral chief executive officer David Stevens, said: “Our offices are awash with staff in Welsh football shirts and all the talk is about how brilliantly the Welsh team have performed at Euro 2016. So we wanted staff to enjoy this historic occasion and closing the office early was a great way for them to do this.

“We’re not forgetting about customers, as our staff and partners outside of Wales will be covering calls. We owe them a big thank you for supporting their colleagues.

“We wish the Welsh team good luck for the game.”

For the earlier games in the tournament Admiral staff have been able to watch the games in the office, with many departments running friendly competitions where different teams adopted different nations from the tournament.

We are now recruiting for exciting and rewarding careers in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea.
