Inside Admiral

"We all look out for each other, that's why Admiral is so successful"

An Operations Manager who joined Admiral 16 years ago with nine GCSE's to his name says there is a wealth of opportunity for young people coming into the business.

Simon Williams was 17 when he secured a job in our New Business team in Cardiff and imagined he would only be here a matter of months.

Now, more than a decade and a half later, he is Operations Manager of our Customer Service department in Swansea and said Admiral is a very exciting place to work.

During his time with us Simon has been a driving force behind initiatives making a major difference to the business and tackled everything from absenteeism to attrition.

Simon said: “There’s so much career progression and opportunity available and it is no longer a straight, linear path.

“No-one stays in a job if they are miserable and after 16 years I’ve loved every minute of it.

“I only had GCSEs when I joined but I learnt the business from the ground up and that’s one of the things that make Admiral special.

“We bring people from a young age up to whatever level they want to achieve.

“Our senior managers remember what it is like to be on the phones and they are more in touch with staff as a result.

“We’ve all come from that level and we understand the difficulties of being on the front line.”

Since 2013 he has worked on key projects across the business and said: “The last three years were the most stressful but also the most rewarding years of my career.”

He added: “There’s a family feel to working here, we all look out for one another and that’s the reason we’re such a successful business.”

We have exciting and rewarding roles available in Swansea, Cardiff and Newport.
