Stavros: from internship to grad programme to a permanent role in Risk
Stavros initially joined Admiral on the undergraduate summer internship in 2015, spending 10 weeks in Claims Solutions, contributing to a range of different analytical projects, from benchmarking to Claims MI. He returned to Admiral the following year to start on the graduate programme, after completing his Masters degree at the University of Edinburgh.
“I did two rotations; the first with First Car Quote and the second in Risk and the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team, where I was offered a permanent role last December. I always knew I wanted to explore the area of Risk, considering my previous studies in Economics and Finance and consequently my desire to understand more about the applications of strategic risk management within the insurance industry.
My main tasks involve supporting the head of the ERM team in risk management procedures and formal submissions while contributing to ad hoc risk requests and projects, as for instance for emerging risks.
It’s an exciting role offering a mixture of demanding tasks of qualitative and quantitative nature. The risk function composes a key governance area of our business and I have the privilege to learn a lot from experienced professionals whilst assisting them, while also be able to apply my skills and academic knowledge.
The Admiral Graduate Programme is a unique graduate rotational programme offering grads the opportunity to gain exposure to governance, operations, or other core functions of the business, enabling them to get a 360° view of the company. This helps you further develop your skills and understand your niche and the ideal area to consider a future permanent role in, where you can best apply your skills and add value to the business.
The scheme offers challenging projects and early responsibility in assisting senior members of staff while gaining diverse exposure to our business. Considering the growth of the Admiral Group, I believe that this graduate programme is the ideal destination for motivated grads that want to make a difference with their contribution and be part of Admiral’s success. If I was to go back in time, I would still apply for an internship and graduate programme at Admiral to start my career”
Applications for our 2019 graduate programme will be open from 3rd September–4th November, so make sure to get your application in by then and you could be starting with us in either February or September 2019!
