Inside Admiral

My path on the Admiral Graduate Programme – Ben, Claims Transformation Manager

After hearing about the Admiral Graduate Programme through word of mouth, Ben started looking into it further…

“I was attracted to the Admiral Graduate Programme because of the variety of rotations, which would allow me to really explore the areas of the business that interested me. After finishing my masters, I needed to get into the real world, and I realised that the Admiral programme was right for me.

Our grad intake all started off in a Customer Services induction – there was high importance placed on understanding the customer, systems and processes. This was a good introduction into the company, you really appreciate how the company works and how to service customers – they are at the heart of everything we do.

My first rotation was then in the New Business Training team where my brief was to set up an MI function and after six months I moved on to my second rotation to Claims Service Project Managers. Here I was involved with projects on our garage network and investigating where we can add value for the customer. This involved a lot of research and analysis of the garage network and where we could add value to the relationships.

Halfway way through this placement I picked up a bit of work for Claims Transformation, I worked on a project looking at what customers want and expect from the claims process, involving a lot of research and surveys.

For my third and final placement I was thinking more long term and where I wanted to end up so chose the Claims Transformation team. I really enjoyed the project I did whilst on my previous rotation so chose to focus wholly on the area and complete my third placement there. Claims Transformation is an exciting area with lots of projects going on, and I could see myself doing a role here long term. I loved the opportunities to manage and deliver my own projects with autonomy.

In January 2018 I finished the programme and became a permanent member of the Claims Transformation team.”

Talking about the Graduate Scheme, Ben said:

‘’I loved the grad scheme, I thought it was great – I had opportunities given to me which I didn’t think I’d have such early on in the grad scheme and my career. Talking to friends who are on other graduate programmes the level of autonomy is certainly unique to Admiral. The scheme was a massive spring board for me in starting my career.’’
