Admiral sponsors Newport Half Marathon
We are delighted to announce that Admiral will once again sponsor the City of Newport Half Marathon in 2015. Admiral first sponsored the event which is organised by St David’s Hospice in Newport in March 2014, when more than 30 members of staff from all sites ran the race on the day. The 2015 Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon will take place on St David’s Day, Sunday 1 March, and as part of our sponsorship deal we will have 50 free spaces for Admiral staff. There will also be unlimited discounted spaces for £19. Normal entry fee is £26, so if you are a runner and want to take part, keep an eye on your emails in the next couple of weeks to find how you can register to enter.
The Half Marathon, which was run for the first time in 2013 attracted nearly 1,000 runners. When staged again last year, numbers grew to 1,200 runners. Natalie Grimshare from the Communications Department said: “We’re delighted to be able to show our support for The City of Newport Half Marathon by renewing our sponsorship of this very important event.
“We’re particularly happy to renew our support as we recognise the half marathon is still in its formative years and the sponsorship and financial assistance we’re providing will play a key part in helping secure this significant event for the city of Newport. “Feedback from staff from our Newport, Cardiff and Swansea offices who took part in last year’s event was incredibly positive, and we’re pleased to give staff the opportunity to take part again.”
St David’s Hospice Care Chief Executive Emma Saysell said: “The first staging of the City of Newport Half Marathon was a tremendous success. The marvellous and significant backing from Admiral last year ensured its continued success. “We’re thrilled with the continued sponsorship which means that we are able to build on the initial, solid achievement already and to ensure that The Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon becomes one of the finest and most outstanding events of its kind in the UK running calendar.”
